What changes do you think there should be to Allure

Recommended Posts

I agree on the power outlets but not because of the need to bend over. But with all the electronic devices (digital camera, cell phone, laptop/netbook, video camera) a traveler is carrying with him in those times it´s easier to plug them in where you can leave them sitting!

Also connect the hairdryer to a separate plug-in like on the Freedom class.

I never had a problem with the sliding doors.

Put back a clothesline into the shower! Those hooks are nice but wet pool stuff doesn´t dry there.

I was disappointed about the Solarium pool too. But the Solarium Bistro is a great new feature especially for breakfast.

Keep the Boardwalk! Great feature for families. BTW donuts are baked fresh each day onboard. Ice Cream parlor is a great substitute for Ben & Jerrys. Ice cream is also made onboard. "Sprinkles" is just the free soft serve ice cream you get in the pool area (same on the Freedom class).

I agree the logo wear shop could have been a bit bigger. But I think after the first rush on the inaugural souvenirs it will be sufficent.

Have been to the Windjammer only once for breakfast and then moved on to the Solarium Bistro. Why, because they didn´t have the fresh Bircher Muesli at Windjammer!! I wonder what I´m doing when I´m aboard with my DD?? Put the Muesli up at Windjammer too!!

Thanks everyone for great suggestions.:D

How about the bars...do you think they should do away with any of them...perhaps there was one you thought wasn't used very much and could be put to better use?

I do agree on Solarium pool and the RCCL Logo shop need looking at, it seemed strange the Logo shop was sharing space with where you could buy the alcohol & ciggies....didnt quite seem right.

There is still time for changes to be made to Allure...heck they did some quite big changes to Oasis on the way over to US...removal of the bar in the middle of the CL for example.

I have sailed Oasis, and love the jogging track exactly where it is. You can actually run without major impediment.

For sure. I hate being on the sun deck, in a lounge chair with joggers coming past all the time. Im also sure the joggers dont like going around the chairs that people move into the clearly marked jogging track! The track is in a perfect place.

It is probably because we were up with the sunrise that we liked it on the top deck (Freedom) and could be outside in the wind and the fresh air and NO people. I am not a jogger by any stretch (too many years dancing and a couple of knee surgeries later preclude me from running much) but we like to get in our daily walks. Since the Freedom is the only ship we have been on, that was our only point of reference :) It was windy, but it was fun to walk past all the pools and be the only two people out there. :D

Hi:

Forgot to mention. I did like the bar they put in the shower so you could put your legs there to shave them:D. In the past, I've always used the toilet seat and that wasn't quite as convenient. I also loved the jogging track on deck 5....that was how we found the gym. I sure thought that was kind of hidden.

Someone who also did the B2B mentioned that it only took about 45 minutes waiting to get back on the ship. I remember sitting there a couple of hours while they located 5 people who they couldn't find to go thru immigration. Maybe it just seemed that long, but I sure didn't remember it only being 45 minutes. That was our first B2B and everyone said that it would be an easy transition; but I thought that it was anything but easy. First, when they had us meet in the dining room for the talk; only one person was trying to talk to about 300 people and she didn't have a microphone and no one could hear her. They kept saying, she'll come over to where you're sitting, but no one ever did. Then they had the line to get the new seapass card and no one told us that was what the line was for...I had to go ask someone. Then I found out later they had a special lunch for the B2B people. We missed it because we didn't hear anyone tell us that. Overall, as I said before, it was a very good cruise and we enjoyed it a lot; but there were a lot of little things that didn't run smoothly; but we expected that being a Maiden and an Innaugural Cruise.

Happy Cruising....Sparkle 10 (Anita) D+

I totally forgot about that bar! I agree, it was very convenient for shaving legs.

The lack of a cigar bar really upset my husband and quite a few of the other men he spoke too. He only really smokes a cigar while on vacation but it is one of the things he looks forward to while cruising. The outside deck was really windy at night and just wasn't comfortable to relax and enjoy a cigar. The other thing I can't beleive hasn't been mentioned more often is the small, low sink in the bathroom. Why is it sooooo low? I must say we sure wish we were back onboard and this was a trip we will always remember, in no way did these things ruin our cruise, but no cigar bar did put a small damper on my husbands fun. I have read many times that people say there is no perfect cruise but this ship can come as close as you can get.

On the New Year's Eve sailing, they were showing football games on the Aqua Theater big screens but movies at times when they aren't in use would be great! I did not really have much trouble with the outlets and wouldn't have though twice about it if I hadn't read about it on these boards. I liked the sliding closet doors because I don't like to see my clutter so I hope those don't go away. Logo shop definitely needs to be bigger. When three people were working there stocking the shelves, the few shoppers were tripping all over the staff.

I remember someone saying the Candy store was very expensive...is this the type of store that could maybe be removed/changed?...heck I dont think it even had Candy Floss(Cotton Candy) to go with the Carousel :o:D

Hey Liz thats a great idea, I knew there was somthing missing to the seaside fair/board walk theme "real" candy floss and sticks of rock with Oasis of the Seas through the middle............

Will get DM to have a word with Adam............:cool:

Alot of people critised the pool area and said it was very "broken" up and fragmented with the Central/Boardwalk "canyons".

Pool games ie sexy legs, belly flop water polo etc just did not work as the stage area was on the bridge area with limited space for audience participation:eek:..

I am not a sun guy:), but took a look, and dont know how they will solve it...........Anybody any ideas or comments................

Sooooooooo loved the Solarium area though one of the best parts on the ship.....not too far to get "food" either...........;).

Please get rid of the horrible sliding doors on the wardrobes, they simply get in the way. Also make the sinks deeper and have a place to put the soap.

Replace the bedside tables with ones that have a draw, many people have medications that they need to keep by the bed, a draw would be more descreet.

Were you happy with eveything in your stateroom?

Wonderful ship but here are some suggestions:

  • Make the closet a few inches deeper so that the closet doors can close without hitting suits or dresses
  • Make power outlets more easily accessible
  • Improve the design of the Windjammer to facilitate some traffic flow and provide more seating (way too crowded on Jan 2 sailing with >5,800 passengers)
  • Raise the location of the toilet paper holder by a few inches to make accessing the TP less of a chore without the paper ripping by accident
  • Improve the noise isolation of the boardwalk balcony sliding glass doors
  • Frost the glass on the boardwalk balconies to provide a little privacy
  • Larger screen on phone display with backlighting so that the time can be seen at night
  • Use real pillows instead of plastic ones
  • Include another elevator bank to have one forward, one middle, and one aft
  • Include some free on-demand movies and music like the Celebrity Solstice...or at least a few more channels that were not pseudo-marketing channels (e.g. educational channels on wine, jewelry, and other items to make people buy more of them on the ship)
  • Include an alarm clock on the TV instead of having to call Guest Services to place a wake-up call request (that isn't always accomodated)
  • Narrower slots on the shelf in the shower to keep the soap or shampoo from falling through
  • Install an exhaust fan in the casino or other smoking areas to make it more inviting to those who do not smoke
  • Self-service laundry facilities
  • Larger internet cafes
  • Design the bathrooms like the Celebrity Solstice
  • Larger safes!!
  • More privacy for people getting salon services
  • Better acoustics so that passengers can actually understand the announcements (in room and in public spaces)
  • More high-level list of major public spaces on each floor when on elevators
  • Live webcams for folks at home to see how much fun everyone has on the ship!

Wonderful ship but here are some suggestions:

  • Make the closet a few inches deeper so that the closet doors can close without hitting suits or dresses-Totally agree.
  • Make power outlets more easily accessible.Totally agree.
  • Improve the design of the Windjammer to facilitate some traffic flow and provide more seating (way too crowded on Jan 2 sailing with >5,800 passengers)-Plenty other places to eat.
  • Raise the location of the toilet paper holder by a few inches to make accessing the TP less of a chore without the paper ripping by accident-Glad someone else said this.
  • Larger screen on phone display with backlighting so that the time can be seen at night-As long as backlight can be switched off.
  • Use real pillows instead of plastic ones-I loved the pillows.
  • Include another elevator bank to have one forward, one middle, and one aft-Too late for this.
  • Include some free on-demand movies and music like the Celebrity Solstice...or at least a few more channels that were not pseudo-marketing channels (e.g. educational channels on wine, jewelry, and other items to make people buy more of them on the ship)-Never had TV on during 11 days.
  • Narrower slots on the shelf in the shower to keep the soap or shampoo from falling through-Hooray someone else thought this.
  • Self-service laundry facilities-Very unlikely.
  • Larger internet cafes-Totally agree.
  • Design the bathrooms like the Celebrity Solstice-Totally agree.
  • Larger safes!!-Didnt find the size a problem.
  • More high-level list of major public spaces on each floor when on elevators-Totally agree.

As you can see I agree on some of your suggestions..others I think too late for them to be done.

Brief observations from my Jan 2 Oasis cruise for improvements to make on Allure:

The shower heads are way too high. Previous ships had the heads slide up and down on a bar. If you prefer not to get your hair wet, and are less than 6 foot, the new stationary head is not good.

Missed the deeper solarium pool. Liked to tread water at least. The new pool is only a hot tub without the heat. It actually has jets and water showers in the center of the pool; however, they are already not working--just like the water features on all the other RCL ships.

The curb steps into the restaurants in the park are a constant safety problem. People seemed to be tripping on them all the time.

The cabin lacks the hook behind the entry door as on other ships.

Actually, the cabins could use quite a few more hooks.

The open concept of the end tables means that if you bump the table (they are very small)things fall off.

Still--this was one of our best cruises ever. Beautiful Ship!!

And there was everyone thinking Oasis was the perfect ship.

Awesome, amazing, beautiful - Definitely

Perfect - of course not. Most of my suggestions were minor and were based on comparisons from my experiences on other cruise lines and RCI ships. IMHO, the Celebrity Solstice is the closest to perfection of any large cruise ship.

Hear Hear on the privacy issue regarding the salon. I had a manicure and pedicure and had planned on getting my hair cut but it just felt really awkward with everyone walking by being able to watch. I didn't hear anyone complain about this however so thought it was just me.
