Shopping in Nassau on a Sunday???

I read a thread that said most places are closed until noon in Nassau on Sundays. Is this true of the straw market area? Our ship (Carnival Dream) will be in Nassau on a Sunday but leaves at 2 PM. My family figured we'd just shop in Nassau. But maybe we should plan something else? I didn't see a Bahamas forum so I hope this is the right place.

I wouldnt bother about Nassau, i would get the water taxi to Paradish Island and crash out for an hour or two on Cabbage beach, its beautiful. Nassau is a dump! I was very disappointment when i went! just my opinion though!

I'll be on the Dream also and will probably go to Cabbage for some beach time.
