RCI KUKOO KUNUKU bar hop

I've read some good and bad reviews about this RCI excursion. However, a couple reviews seemed to favor Carlos & Charlies' place. So, I'm thinking about just hanging there for the last night of my cruise...good or bad idea?

Also, one poster mentioned that Carlos & Charlies' is "within walking distance" from the pier; is this true? Can anyone elaborate on the actual distance?

Also, any other feedback about the kukoo kunuku bar hop and Charlies'?

We sail in a couple of weeks and decided to go with the Aruba Bar & Pub Crawl instead of the KuKoo Kunuku. The Pub Crawl does NOT include dinner but I think makes a few more stops than the KK.

It is my understanding that both use Carlos & Charlies as their last stop and yes it is supposed to be within walking (stumbling :) ) distance of the pier.

I will update this thread when we return on 2/7! :D

Yes absolutley,

"Charlies is walking distance.... Last year when we were in Aruba(not a cruise, yikes), you could see all the ships from the bar..... Just a well lit side street walk that gets you back to the pier.

Also, if you want to bar hop, and really there are not to many bars, you can do this so easy just by walking the town, which is no more than 5 minutes from the pier.

Personally, I would save your $'s for another excursioin, like the jeep tour, or something.

Hello there. My husband and I were in port in Aruba last week. Aruba is such a beautiful island. We spent the day at the Occidental Allegro All-Inclusive resort which was very nice but next time, I would love to do the jeep tour. Our tablemates did it and they had a riot! They said they would love to go on another cruise just to do the jeep excursion. As far as the Kukoo Kanuku tour is concerned, it was a lot of fun. After our day at the resort we came back to the ship for a couple hours and then we were off on the Kukoo bar hopping trip. This is the one that doesn't include supper but goes to 5 different island bars. We had a lot of fun! I'll give you a few more details about our experience.

We got picked up right in front of the ship (the fun, funky bus was full) with a wide variance of people - all ages. The first two bars were empty when we got there. You get a free drink at each bar (no frozen drinks) and while we didn't stay at the first one for long, it gave people a chance to meet others on the tour. The second bar was great because the owner/employee got up and was great at getting everyone into a party mood. He had everybody up dancing and laughing. On our third stop, we met 3 other Kukoo Kanuku groups so this place was packed and there was all kinds of action! By the fourth stop, everyone was having a great time partying and lots of people had made new friends. The 5th and last stop of the night was Carlos' N' Charlies. There was a line to get in but we just showed our Kukoo Kanuku card and they let us in right away. This place was PACKED. We didn't stay long here because you could hardly even move and it was very hot. We've been to Carlos' n Charlies in Cozumel but it's way more wide open with a nice breeze than the one in Aruba although the one in Aruba is way larger. We walked back to the ship (about a 4 minute walk; you could see the ship from the bar so you will know which way you need to walk) Have fun!

Naylenk described the night perfectly. We, also, did the bar & pub crawl thru the AOS and we had a great time! However, by the time we got to Carlos & Charlies, it was so crowded that there was a line even for those of us holding the pass to get in. And it was just so hot and crowded that I skipped Carlos & Charlies and walked back to the ship. And yes...it is within walking distance to the ship and I felt safe enough to walk back alone. My husband, sis & bro-in-law went to a casino for about an hour. My two daughters and nephew & wife stayed at Carlos & Charlies and they said they had a blast! (As a matter of fact they told me I should have stayed too.)

So, if you like drinking, loud, crazy party atmosphere and attitudes you will love the bar & pub crawl. If you are more quiet and reserved then it might not be for you.

They do have the dinner tour also, but you only go to 3 bars. We had heard from some passengers that the dinner was "just ok". We had late dinner seating so we ate dinner in the Windjammer early then went on the bar & pub crawl at 7:30. It worked out perfectly.

pltag....

I think you made a good choice not doing the dinner as you do go to more bars (hence more drinks....lol) on the Bar & Pub Crawl and they use the same type of bus (KukooKunuku bus)...its wild, loud, & fun! You will have a good time!

What's this........there's DRINKING on the Bar & Pub Crawl ;) ;)........I have never been so shocked....just kidding :D :D

MszKitty - We will be in Aruba 2 weeks from tomorrow. It's 4 degrees (not 40........4!) in frosty western Missouri this morning, so it's going to take a few drinks just to thaw things out! :)

When reading about the two trips, the one with dinner says it stops at the beach for a "sunset champagne toast on the beach", then dinner, then 3 bars. Does the pub crawl stop at the beach first and then the 5 bars, or just the bars? Is it always crowded at Carlos and Charlies because of the number of tours they do, or is it less crowded during certain times of the year? Thanks for the info!

HI. My husband was 50 and and I was 39 when we did the tour. We had a great time. Did the dinner, then the bars. Dinner was nice because you got to meet alot of people on the tour first, get to know them and then party! we wound up hanging with a group of 23 year olds. They taught us what body shots were. It was fun. Ages ranged from early 20's to way older than us. I still like too look at the pictures of my husband on top of the bar singing with all the young kids. You are as old as you let yourself be!!!!!

I have a picture of me, too, up on the bar with my 2 daughters (19 & 24), my nephew's wife (early 30'), and my older sister (mid 50's)! It really was a great time! It is SO true about you are as old as you let yourself be...and I am younger now than I was at 25, 35, 40! Heck, during those ages I had to be the "responsible, mature mom". Now I can be the "Party Mom" and party with my girls! And OH how we partied on the Kukookunuku bar hop!

The only thing about the dinner/bar hop is that you only get to go to 3 bars instead of 5 bars on the pub & bar crawl.
