Getting to the Botanical Gardens in St Vincent

Can someone tell me if it's easy to walk to the botanical gardens from the cruise ship terminal or do we need to take a taxi. If so, can we easily get one for the return trip or will we have to book it when we are dropped off. We would prefer to walk, but haven't managed to find out the distance from the port to the gardens so it's difficult to judge. Thanks in advance for your help.

We would prefer to walk, but haven't managed to find out

the distance from the port to the gardens so it's difficult to judge.

If you're the hiking walking kind, the botanical Gdns. are within your capability,

unless it's a stinking hot/humid day.

..............

Look up the Kingstown Valley in a NE direction -big green patch.

The gardens are within sight of your docked position at Kingstown

It's a slope all the way up the valley floor, but not steep.

it's about a half-mile inland

and about half-mile North of where you dock..

thus making it about 3/4 mile from the pier? ..straight line.

Try to walk it in a group of four or five couples for security reasons.

Strength in numbers

It's not a dangerous town, but you gotta be careful there. ;)

..shows similar terrain -this is the next Valley South of where you'll be at

- shot from a plane at about 1500? ft.

showing the airstrip at Arnos Vale, Fort Divernet(the bullet), Young Island island resort

and the Villa area on mainland St.Vincent

Hi Aplmac, thanks for that.

It's possible that there would just be the two of us -

would you recommend taking a taxi then rather than walking?

Yes, and it shouldn't cost much. He might even wait on you?

Takes about 45 mins. I think to get around the gardens.

There are licensed knowledgeable local guides at the Gardens

to tell you about this and that, and to point out weird things to you.

Probably worth the extra money.
