I will be posting this on the other board as well. I would really like those who have sailed

on both lines to respond; but everyone is welcome ofcourse.

I'm not as interested in service, or ambiance...but the tastiness and variety of the

Main Dining Room food (not the specialty extra charge food).

Royal Caribbean's MDR food or Carnival MDR food. As of 2010; on balance which one

wins?

Who cares

Which ever one is cooking so my wife and I don't have to.

I don't understand the purpose of a thread like this. Both Carnival and RCCL are great cruiselines. They are more alike than different.

Now, if the purpose is just to stir up controversy and get the cheerleaders bickering at one another, then that's a whole new level of something else.

I second that...everyone has different taste buds...I'll eat anything except liver and onions, and escargot.

Isn't this kind of like saying MCDonalds is better than Burger King BECAUSE: , not to imply they are cheap fast food, but rather, I may like my burger flame broiled, and you may like yours pan fried. Food preference is a pretty personal choice.

That said, my wife and I, in 2 cruises on each line, DEFINITELY prefer Carnival's main dining room food. The seafood is WAY better in how it is cooked and the sauces, the beef is better, the chicken seemed better. As for the buffet, the "specialty" type foods seem better on Carnival, though the burgers and the like seemed better on RCCL. The desserts, aside from a couple we really liked on RCCL (flourless chocolate cake), also seem WAY better on Carnival. Room service choices were WAY better on RCCL.

Of the three lines we cruised, I would say

Carnival>Princess>RCCL, but that's just my opinion on the matter.

....I am sailing RCI again after a few years away and I was wondering if perceptions had changed. Even back in the Mid 'oughts', my feeling was Carnival was a little better; was

just getting the current "lay of the galley" as it were.

Who cares which has the best food. Taste is too subjective. If you order something and you don't like it send it back and order something else. Lots of choices each and every night.

I found CCL food to be marginally better.... just because of their cream fruit soups and their lobster is bigger than RCCL lobster.

NCL had the worst food.... but it was still fairly good.

I wouldn't base cruise choice on food on either line.

The clear winner is which ever ship I'm on at the time. After all, anything beats the leftovers I am eating right now while sitting in front of the computer!

Not everybody who cruises HAS a spouse/significant other...

I've done 4 RCL cruises, one HAL 2008 and Carnival this new year's past and have always enjoyed the food.

I know loads of people prefer Carnival but I prefer RCL. I found that on RCL I was hard pushed to make a choice as there were several things on the menu I wanted. With Carnival it was hard for me to pick something other than falling back on the steak.

Now saying that, I believe there's been a big change on all lines in the last few years and it may be the next time I try RCL I'll find it's changed.

Carnival!

More of it.

More options.

More availability.

Leaner meats.

Tastier poultry.

Better presentation.
