Normal or oversized for class? - normal sized balcony Was wind a problem? - we had some rough seas, so when the wind was whipping, it was muffled in the cabin. Lots of sea spray! If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - Any specific problems with this cabin? - we had a brief issue with the TV remote and the phone in this cabin on night 1. The receiver wasn't working at all on the phone so it would ring but they couldn't hear us on the other end. We also changed remote batteries and it still wasn't working to change channels but you could adjust volume. They replaced the phone handset and remote and there were no other issues for the trip. No. This room is directly above the Royal Theater. You will hear noise from the shows in the theater until about 10 pm. THEN I don’t know what they do, but from 10-11:30 each night, there was endless crashing and banging from below. It sounded like someone smashing machines into each other over and over. This went on every night and made it hard to sleep until after 11:30. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? No Balcony View – Ocean. Balcony Size? Normal. Enough room for a small round table and two chairs. Was wind a problem? No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? - Other than the noise, the room was great. Handy to just zip down two flights of stairs to the Café Promenade. It is at the front of the ship, so if you run down two flights of stairs, Café Promenade is right there. But of course, it’s a long walk to the other end of the ship for The Windjammer or the Solarium or pools. Any other comments? - See photos
Wavy543 Posted April 24, 2022 #1255 Share Posted April 24, 2022 Ship - Freedom of the Seas Deck - 9 Stateroom # - 9678 Stateroom Category – Balcony (3B) Starboard or Port Side - Port Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes it was a quiet stateroom. This stateroom was across from a stair case accessed by staff (I believe this is where they brought up and delivered the luggage, and maybe also the housekeeping trolleys). I was concerned that this cabin would be noisy but it was perfectly quiet and there was no disturbances from the staff using that staircase In fact, it was probably more quiet than if we actually had an occupied inside stateroom across from us. I would pick this cabin again. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No. Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Standard size, no obstructions with two upright chairs that reclined and a small table. Perfect view - looking up and slightly to the left you could see the bump out of the solarium hot tubs. We could not hear any excess noise from the decks above from our balcony. We were one deck removed from the pool deck (deck 11) and chose deck 9 specifically for that reason. Occasionally we could smell cigarette smoke odors from some other nearby passengers' balconies I presume. But keeping door closed to balcony it never travelled inside to our stateroom. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal. Was wind a problem? - No. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - No. Any specific problems with this cabin? - No. This Cabin was situated a bit more "aft" than we typically prefer. We could feel a bit of the very slight swaying and rocking of the ship at night. Not sure if this felt more pronounced just for us because we were aft or if it was felt by everyone even those with mid-ship cabins. Any other comments? - This cabin was not "amplified" or renovated yet. It was clean and maintained, but there were the obvious signs of hard use, like a tear in the side of the couch, and some knicks and bruises at bottom of furniture. Pictures on wall were very '90s (i.e mauve and turquoise prints of water lilies). Bathroom was standard, clean and all in working condition, with a dated turquoise shell motif. None of the decor mattered much for the amount of time we actually spent in the cabin which was very little. It just didn't give you that "ooh and aah" feeling of luxury when you first walk in. The King bed and pillows were very comfortable and clean. We used the sofa bed for our two kids and each night it was made up very comfortably with duvets and pillows that were very clean and comfortable. Even though this room was next to the elevator, we did not have any issues with noise from guests. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Yes Balcony View - No obstructions. These balconies are a little further recessed so you can look down into the balconies on the deck below to see your neighbors if they are standing near the railings. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal Was wind a problem? - No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? - No. Air conditioner wasn't working the greatest when we boarded but maintenance came and fixed it without issue. Any other comments? - The room is smaller than others in the same category on bigger ships because the ship itself is smaller. But it was perfect for us for the 14 nights we spent there. There is a clothesline in the shower and it does have the shampoo dispenser. There is a ledge behind the couch that wasn't in our friend's cabin which was great for extra storage.
CruiserEK Posted May 21, 2022 #1258 Share Posted May 21, 2022 Ship - Allure of the Seas Deck - 11 Stateroom # - 181 (11181) Stateroom Category – 2J - Connecting Central Park Balcony Starboard or Port Side - Port Quiet Stateroom? - Not completely but I did not find it to the point that it was overly bothersome. Your mileage may vary depending on your stateroom neighbors and if you want to take naps during the middle of the day or early afternoon. The music from the pool area and the ambient noise from outside can still sort of be heard even with the door closed but it is not or less noticeable the farther away you are from the balcony door . It was possible at times to hear your neighbors as it is a connecting stateroom. The connecting door is located towards the entrance of the cabin. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Yes. The connecting door is across from the bathroom. Balcony View – It overlooks the forward part of Central Park. There is real greenery to look at and it is quite serene to be out on your balcony during the morning and evening hours. Ambient nature sounds are played and changed during the day and night. Towards mid-day and the afternoon the music from the pool area can be heard. Your view looking towards the aft of Central Park is partially obstructed by the vertical ribs that were placed after every third room. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - I found the balcony size to be a bit bigger than other standard balconies in this class compared to other ships that I have been on. A table is standard which not all balconies on other ships in this size class have which allows you to dine out on your balcony. Was wind a problem? - Occasionally there was a problem on windier days. Out at sea one day it was very windy with the top decks being closed. The wind would travel down into Central Park and blow off a towel or bathing suit I had laid over the back of the chair. Any specific problems with this cabin? - The room could use some maintenance and a refresh as of May 2022. There is some minor wear and tear with the furniture and water fixtures. When the safe door is left open the sliding closet door can catch onto it preventing it from opening and can also brush past the buttons causing it to lock which required a call to maintenance to unlock it so that I could use it again. I also needed maintenance to replace the cooler as it was not working. Any other comments? - The cabin is conveniently located towards the front elevators and stairs and access to the other side of the ship. It is a bit of a walk to get to the aft elevators. No noise. Starboard location gave interesting port view on embarkation. (Well, as good as a view of Bayonne can be....) Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - normal Was wind a problem? - no If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - n/a, this cabin is mid-ship. Any specific problems with this cabin? - Nothing big. Curtain a bit worn out but no biggie. Closet door sticks a bit...just push it. ! Any other comments? - Great cabin. Centrally located and close to stairs/elevators. Location on 12th deck meant easy access to pool deck via stairs yet one deck buffer so no pool deck noise. Sofa bed pulled out; even when made up for daughter (see pics) there was plenty of room to access balcony. We kept bed made up all week; never used it as sofa. We put little side table on balcony for more floor space. Liked that the bathroom light on dimly even when shut off; makes nighttime bathroom trips easier Hidden outlet under bed; perfect for phone or CPAP or whatever. (With comments on problems) – Yes, quiet. No noise issues. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – This is sold as an obstructed cabin but the obstruction was very small and unobtrusive. The view was very open and you could see lots of water. There is deck seating immediately below, on deck 5, and although it did not get used much on our cruise, people there would be able to see you on your balcony, so best not to do anything out there that you shouldn't be doing in public. Definitely a great choice for anyone looking to save a bit on the cost of a balcony cabin. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal Was wind a problem? - No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? - None Any other comments? - On this ship, the smoking area on deck 5 is on the port side, so this cabin was not affected by smoke. The cabin is located midships between the two sets of lifts, so very convenient for getting around.
jennyfranco Posted June 19, 2022 #1263 Share Posted June 19, 2022 Oasis of the Seas Deck 11 Stateroom 11916 Category 2T (inside with "promenade" view, though it looks onto Boardwalk, not promenade) Boardwalk view Quiet? If there is music playing in the music hall, we can hear it. It's quiet enough to talk over, but loud enough to be disruptive if you are trying to sleep. Connecting? no No balcony No wind No soot Problems? The curtains are an issue. The sheers are hooked to the black out curtains, so it's either all or nothing. Either the room is dark or wide open. Comments: Bring a clothespin or two so that you can keep the black out curtains open and clip the sheers closed. That way you will get sunlight and keep your privacy as boardwalk balconies can look right into the room. This room is right next to the card room, but there was no noise from that room, even though it was always packed during our voyage. The closet is small, and there is only one chair rather than a sofa. The room and bathroom are both smaller than in a balcony room. Perfect for solo traveler or two very tidy people. No significant noise from adjoining cabins or venues ( it is directly over the Schooner Bar but no noise from that) It is also over the starboard gangway so when pilot boats come alongside you can hear it. Quite a lot of noise from activities and music in the Centrum. Balcony View - Great. Unobstructed Balcony Size? Large. Table and chairs plus room for a lounger but not lounger. Was wind a problem? No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/a Any specific problems with this cabin? This is a handicapped accessible cabin so it it much larger and wider than a typical balcony cabin. There are emergency pulls for assistance all over the cabin that contact the bridge directly. It is quite easy to accidentally set these off and get a visit from security. (One was directly behind my pillows on my bed) Any other comments? Great size and accessibility if you use a wheelchair. Location is great for accessibility but comes with a moderate amount of noise from foot traffics and being so close to the centrum.
