We are aboard the Radiance - been here about 1 hour. Any questions. We don't leave until 2:00 a.m. because of some kind of mechanical failure.l Catherine

Sorry to hear about the mechanical failure but you'll probably make up for time overnight.

So, is she every bit as beautiful as people have said? We're having a tough time deciding on which ship to cruise on next. We're very tempted to book the Radiance class.

Have a great cruise.

from what we have seen so far, she is gorgeous. We have just gotten our luggage. Will unpack, change clothes and go EXPLORE. We are looking forward to a great time.

Hi,

Hope you enjoy the Radiance as much as we did on our BTB in January. If you get a chance I would be really grateful if you can say hi to Fredi the bartender in the Champagne Bar on deck 7. He is such a lovely guy. Say hi from Mr Mark and Bev from the UK who were on a BTB Jan 9th - Jan 23rd. We would often have a glass of Veuve Cliquot either before dinner or later on in the evening.

Thanks,

Bev

We just got off radiance this morning. We had come back in at full speed at 2:00AM and they had some underwater repair crews waiting to work on it. Don't know what the problem was but we saw parts being pulled up from underwater.

Richkat...we are booked on a Radiance in Nov. and can't wait. I don't think I have heard anyone say anything bad about her. If you should happen to book on the 11-6 cruise, we have started a thread already and look forward to others joining us.

We're very excited just thinking about you touring the ship. That's one of our favorite parts about cruising. So, it'll probably be between the new "jewel of the seas" or the "norwegian jewel."

We will be sailing Radiance in three weeks. It will be great to actually hear what's happening on board while you're on this week.

Is this the western or eastern? Let us know who the entertainers are. Also, what was the mechanical problem, did they say? Is all well now? Certainly hope so as we can't wait to board.

Enjoy your cruise and please keep posting.

I heard the mechanical issue was a propeller problem?

If it is, it did not affect speed. The ship came back hitting 25 knots, full speed.

Is a propeller problem something the underwater divers can repair? Hopefully Catherine (cmoq) will be able to keep us posted this week as to what's happening.

Catherine,

How was your first dinner aboard Radiance?

jrm9999,

What was the entertainment like? Did you enjoy your cruise?

Hi, fellow cruiser. Are you travelling with family? Any teens? We were on Jewel this past New Year's and Brilliance the year prior so we can't wait to return to a sister ship. We love the layout of this class ship. Imagine, three weeks from tonight....can't wait!!! :)

jrm9999,

What was the entertainment like? Did you enjoy your cruise?

Entertainment was good overall. There were a few I did not care for but others did. The singers and dancers did 2 shows. I liked the first but did not like the second. They performed great, I just did not like the content of the second show as much. The cast themselves were very good and talented, but they only have 2 weeks left until a new group gets on. The shows are not supposed to change though.

As for guest entertainers, all were some type of comedy. All were funny, some more than others.

Around the ship there was a trio that played in the centrum that was very good. There is a piano player in the schooner bar that drew quite a crowd. He would mock up some of the songs with funny lyrics that a lot of people liked. In the Colony Club, most nights had a band playing that was good as well. Most of what they played was 70's and 80's music from what I heard, but I did not see them every night.

I was hoping someone on the Radiance yesterday would post here. I was on the Miami webcam. I didn't know why the Radiance hadn't left so I gave up after 1 1/2 hours. Now I know why. Our daughter & her boyfriend left from Miami on Carnival Valor yesterday so I was following them.

We are on the Radiance March 20, 2005. I assume they were able to fix the problem, & you are on your way. We love the Radiance class & the Voyager class ships.

Hope you will be posting all week. Have a great time!

Gail

Have you heard any conversations, possibly about a passenger being thrown overboard on the previous cruise? :D

We finally left Miami in the early morning hours. Ship seems to be working finel We had our life boat drill at 10:00 this morning. I think that was because passengers did not have to be on board until 11:30 last night. Last night's dinner was good. We are at a table for six - had requested a table for two but were told there were only three tables for two in the dinning room. I had broiled cod (on a diet, yuk) my husband had rib eye (which was more like prime rib. Bob's meal was very good, mine just average, what can you say about broiled fish? We didn't do anything but watch the GAME after eating. We have the early seating. After the life boat drill, we walked all around most of the ship. She is very beautiful. The shops were packed - time later to look through them. We are in cabin 1552 and will try to post pictures.

Seattlelover: We will go to the Champagne Bar tonight and say hello to Fredi for Mr. Mark and Bev.

Will write more later. Catherine

No docs for 3/6 yet. Come on over to the roll call board and say Hi. There is a combined roll call for 3/6 and 3/13. Did you sign up for the M & M? This is going to be great to have someone posting live this week. Thanks cmoq for your posts.

I will check on the 3 card poker. Bob is going to play in the bj tournement at 2:00 this afternoon and I will check to see what is available in the casino.

I forgot to mention that our cabin, 1552, can be seen from people on the deck of 1554. Also, when we are on our balcony, we can see into cabin 1554. I have never had a situation like this before and at first it was a little unnerving. Getting use to is though.

Can you tell me if they allow smoking in the Schooner Bar? Royal Caribbean says yes, but some posters have said no.

we have walked through the schooner bar. did not stop, but i will check on that for you. We did notice that the Colony Club, which is just behind the schooner bar allows smoking in part of it. You could smell the smoke in the whole area, though.

I just got a notice in the room that we have received a table for two at the late seating. Not sure that is a good thing. I think we would rather eat before 8:30. Oh, well. Be careful what you ask for. You may get it.

Catherine....We prefer the late seating....especially on port days. Hubby considers it a deal breaker....if we ever get early seating he will cancel the trip. Who is the Capt, CD, LA, Concierge now? If you happen to hear how long any of them have been on board (just come on or are they about to leave for vacation, etc....who their replacements will be, etc.) we would appreciate the info. Have a great cruise. RD is our favorite ship and crew.

The high today is in the low 70's. Some people are around the pools in their swim suits. I felt like a needed a sweater. Very windy.

The casino does have three card poker. One table. We watched for a while. Still don't understand the rules.

The Schooner Bar has NO smoking tables. We walked through and every table has a no smoking sign on it. The Colony Club, right beside the Schooner Bar has a smoking section.

We went to the wine tasting this afternoon after Bob lost in his first round of blackjact. The wine tasting was fun.

The captain is Darin Bowland. He was on our first RC cruise on the Grandeur several years ago. The CD is Gordon Whatman. Don't know anything about him yet.
