yankeegrl Posted July 17, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2010 Curious about the rates. Is it a better price if I book while I'm on the ship? Taking our first cruise next weekend and anticipating a new addiction to crusing! I keep seeing posts about booking the next trip while on the cruise. Should I do it then or wait? Taking our first cruise next weekend and anticipating a new addiction to crusing! I keep seeing posts about booking the next trip while on the cruise. Should I do it then or wait? Same rate. No discounts for doing this. BUT............. Sign up for the Crown & Anchor Society on the first day of your cruise. See if you can get the Loyalty Ambassador to expedite this and get you a membership number. Then, when you book your next cruise while on this first cruise, you will be entitled to an OBC (on board credit) for that next cruise. The amount depends on the length of the cruise that you book. Buckeye State Cruisers Posted July 17, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 17, 2010 you can also book a "Next Cruise". Basically you put down a deposit of $100 pp and when you are ready to book your next cruise they apply that money to your deposit and you get OBC. ( 3-4 nt is $50, 7 nt is $100 and 10+ is $200) You also get 2 friends and family coupons. If someone books another room (linked to your reservation) they also get OBC. OBC structure has changed since June 1, 2010... OBC From Booking On Board $25 for sailings of 3-5 nights $100 for sailings of 6-9 nights $150 for sailings of 10-14 nights $200 for sailings of 15+ nights
Fun@C Posted July 17, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 17, 2010 I booked a cruise with a "next cruise" cert for a 4 day. I also have another room linked to my res. as well. We booked this in March, so we each should have received the $ 50. OBC right?

We booked this in March, so we each should have received the $ 50. OBC right? Correct. To the OP: next to getting an onboard credit to spend, the reduced deposit is a very good reason to book on board. Also, you get a better cabin selection if the cruise is 6 or more months away. The obc can be cashed out in the casino for a 3% fee, or the last day of the cruise you can go to the Customer Relations desk and cash it out there. This, of course, is if you don't spend it all on the cruise! :D I prefer to book an actual cruise rather than get a Next Cruise certificate. The deposit for an NC is non-refundable, while the deposit on an actual cruise is refundable. For $100 per person and an obc, it's just a great way to get more bang for your cruising buck! emilygrace Posted July 17, 2010 #7 Share Posted July 17, 2010 You do not have to be a Crown and Anchor member to get the OBC when you book a future cruise while on a cruise. But it will give you a few perks on that next cruise.

emilygrace Posted July 17, 2010 #9 Share Posted July 17, 2010 Oh good grief! That one slipped past me! Now I wonder what else has? I guess I'll find out the next time I sail and they tell me "sorry, that changed in June"!
mom4mom Posted July 19, 2010 #10 Share Posted July 19, 2010 We prepaid $200 toward a future cruise while aboard the Legend of the Seas last Nov. It actually worked in our favor because everyone else needed to plunk down a $900 for our next cruise which will be a transatlantic next year and we were able to confirm our reservation with only that $200 we paid. It would have been hard to come up with $900 and we didn't want to miss out on the great deal.

If I had known that they were going to change that, I would have booked another 3 cruises.
yankeegrl Posted July 19, 2010 Author #12 Share Posted July 19, 2010 Thanks all for the great info. One more question...do you have to book through RC to get credit toward the C&A rewards program?
John Henry on CC Posted July 19, 2010 #13 Share Posted July 19, 2010 Thanks all for the great info. One more question...do you have to book through RC to get credit toward the C&A rewards program? Nope. You get the cruise credits by sailing on a Royal Caribbean cruise, regardless of how you booked that cruise. And if you are talking about booking on board the ship and getting OBC for your next cruise, you can simply tell the Loyalty Ambassador who is helping you to book that you want the cruise transferred to XYZ Travel Agency. pcur Posted July 20, 2010 #16 Share Posted July 20, 2010 I am C and A member will we have to put a full deposit down ? Or is that discounted as well. The deposit is $100 per person. Booking on a cruise is a win-win IMO. However, remember the "Next Cruise" certificates have a non-refundable deposit. You can always transfer your booked cruise to another cruise and keep all the bennies and the deposit intact.
ChollaChick Posted July 29, 2010 #17 Share Posted July 29, 2010 so if I book a cruise with the Next Cruise certs and wind up cancelling I don't get to keep the certs, but if I change it to another cruise that is okay? Just making sure.

Just making sure. If you use a Next Cruise cert and cancel you lose YOUR DEPOSIT, but can re-use the cert. Transferring a cruise keeps your deposit. In the future the best thing to do is book an actual cruise while on another cruise, get the obc, and then transfer the booking later on if you choose. If you cancel in this situation, you get your deposit money back.
