Cigars in Samana

Are there any reputable cigar shops in Samana? I'm not looking to buy cigars off the street. I did that in Honduras. I bought two hand rolled unbanded cigars that looked good but tasted and smoked horrible.:eek: I still have one in my humidor as a souvenir. I'm looking for top brands such as Fuente & Padron.

I don't smoke, so I really didn't pay attention, but .....

 

A number of the stores in the shopping area at the east end of town had cigar sections; if nothing else, go there for the air conditioning. :-)

 

It's a short 800 meter walk, or a $5 one way taxi ride.

I picked up a box of 25 for 20 bones last time I was on Cayo Leventado...as we were getting ready to tender back.

 

They were Don Patico...can't even find a review of them on the net, but

I thought they were quite good.

 

I will buy a box again on this cruise.

There was one kind of decent place in the little shopping area in town...

Otherwise, lots of cigars on the street...

How would you compare those Don Patico cigars you bought to other Dominican brands out in the market? I would be interested in finding out more about the cigar. Medium or full bodied? What you might compare it to. We're going to Samana in December on NCL and I am hoping to find some great local cigars for my humidor. I've been burned by the street vendors with crap cigars on our last cruise, so hoping to find some reputable brands to look for.
