The "Snowman" is on the Diamond/ Elite news

Recommended Posts

We boarded yesterday. All the goddies were in the cabin for Elite members including the slippers. Something new, they have a seperate boarding (wait area) for members. They come and get you and escort you through security. We were on and having glass of wine in the H.C. by 12:30 Whoever said don't eat the N.Y. in Sterling was right on, it was terriable. I think that people think that this a a better quality of meat but it was the same you get in the D.R. Service there has improved however and if you are lucky enough to get Katra or Rowland you will have a killer team, they are really good. Try for table 244 very private table for 2. I will be checking every morning so if there questions that I can answer I will try to help. The "Snowman" has spoken

I'm anxious to hear all about the Diamond. We will be there in late March.

When you make dinner reservations, can you request specific tables? Thanks for the information.

I would definatly bring a sweater or a sweatshirt for the 1 st day at sea and also the return. Inside the ship it was very comfortable. We are in a Mini-Suite on the Emarald deck and the balcony is completly private. "Snowman"

Good to hear, that when you are Elite, they supply you with slippers. That's usually a suite perk.

I also like that they have a separate boarding area, & the escort through security.

Now only have to wait 4 more cruises, until we're Elite.

Snowman...please if you have a minute...can you check out A749...specifically the balcony. We have that cabin booked and realize that balcony will be a little smaller than others but trade off is privacy. We recently turned down mini to keep this cabin. Now not sure we did the right thing. Just that most minis are open balconies with no shade or privacy. So when in port can you just look up and check in out for us. It will be our first aft cabin and actually first balcony. I have time to change cabins if needed. Just not sure so your honest opinion would be appreciated.

Thanks Chris

PS How is internet? We will be taking the laptop.

pedirn, I don't know when you need to decide about your cabin, but we'll be next door in A751 on the Diamond in a few weeks. I'll be happy to report back on the balcony size when we return.

Jean Thanks I appreciate you getting the information for me. We are not sailing until 4/2006 Sydney to SFO. Right now ship is mostly sold out but this far out I know other cabins will become available. With only having to put down $400pp for a month cruise....well I am sure alot of people booked and will be deciding later. I really would like a mini on Emerald deck....I think that is the one that has covered balconies but they are as hard to get as aft cabins. We originally booked with Princess and then transfered booking to our TA and it was Princess that said we would really like the aft cabin on this ship. Way they talked, it let us to believe that the brochure isn't really accurate in dimensions of cabin and balcony. Have you heard any differently?

Thanks Chris

Chris,

I'll make a note to send you balcony info when we return. I don't know much about the aft cabin balconies on this deck. Frankly, we just booked recently for the 3/26 cruise, and this was the only cabin available. I think we were just lucky to get one at the aft....... first time for us. I did, however, read a post from someone who was in A751 and said they loved the cabin and the location. So I'm very optimistic.

Hate to dissapoint you regarding the "elite" status. We were given slippers on our first cruise with Princess in Dec. I guess our cabin steward must have liked us.

Hi

We were in Aloha 723 in January, had a very private balcony. The overhang from the deck above completely protects you from rain, which we unfortunately had on our trip. You won't get a lot of direct sun but you can just slip out the back deck to the terrace pool for that. The balcony is not huge, but big enough for a square table and two chairs. Many times there were four of us out there comfortably. The balcony "front" wall is glass so you will be able to sit and watch the water go by. You will also be able to look down upon the decks below you. I was amazed at how few people actually were out on their decks. Have a wonderful trip, we did!!

Is the separate boarding for the Platinum members also - or just the Elite members?

Snowman, where do you go to make dinner reservations? Is there a desk set up where we can go after boarding? If so, where is it located? Can you make all reservations there including Sabatini's or do you make those at Sabatini's?

Thanks.

Jean

Snowman - did you originally check in at the Platimun desk and then they directed you elsewhere or did the gal grab you as soon as you got into the terminal and direct you to a special desk when she discovered you were Elite?

We're traveling and checking in with 7 other people all of whom are currently Platimun but will be Elite after this cruise. Do you know if they let them join us (their rooms are adjacent to ours) or make them board as normal?

Thanks for taking time out from you cruise to update us. Have lots of FUN!

Jean, when you get to your cabin pick up the phone and call a concierge desk. You can only make a reservation for 2 nights.

Larsen, we checked in at the Platimun desk and they brought our keys in black which is the color of Elite.

she also gave us a boarding number which was 342 and said to have a seat. We just started to walk towards the boarding area and a gentelman asked to see our cards and he told us that there was Elite waiting area and if we wanted we could sit there. About 10 min. later a man in a suite came by and took our boarding numbers and led us through security. it was very fast. More tom. The "Snowman"
