acceber32 Posted August 30, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2010 This might be a silly question but I have searched and searched for the answer and can't find it. What types of milk does Carnival serve? Specifically, I need to make sure that they have whole milk for my DS (who will be 17 months at the time of our cruise). I know they have many kids cruise all the time and I am over thinking things but this is the first vacation we will be taking him on and I don't want to forget something we need for him. I looked at the menus and only saw 2% and skim listed. Thanks!
happy cruzin Posted August 30, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2010 Whole, 2% (chocolate and white) and skim were available on the Dream. Milk is out for breakfast in the morning - after that you might have to ask for it, but the buffet staff will get it for you.

emmaco Posted August 30, 2010 #6 Share Posted August 30, 2010 Hi, When we sailed on the Liberty this past April my daughter drinks soy milk she did not see it at the buffet but asked a crew member and they got it for her.

Poomah Posted August 31, 2010 #10 Share Posted August 31, 2010 2% should be fine for a 17month old for a short duration - if it needs to be a "creamier" consistency then just add some of the non-flavored coffee creamers to it I don't remember if they are tru half n half or the non-dairy kind (maybe they have both) - but either way it will make the milk "creamier"
Marie51 Posted August 31, 2010 #11 Share Posted August 31, 2010 I have gotten whole milk on Carnival ships. I order extra at breakfast with room service and keep it in the fridge for whenever I want it.
sph7 Posted August 31, 2010 #12 Share Posted August 31, 2010 It is good to know they have a lactose-free milk. I recently developed a lactose intolerance and I'm cruising in 11 days.
smellywax Posted August 31, 2010 #13 Share Posted August 31, 2010 Do they have hot milk? Celebrity has containers of hot milk on the breakfast buffet and even though I have sailed Carnival 12 times, I don't remember if they have hot milk.
AZ Karaoke Girl Posted August 31, 2010 #14 Share Posted August 31, 2010 Seems to me it was whole milk, skim, chocolate. I don't recall on all my CCL cruises being able to get lowfat 2% or 1%. I don't like whole or skim so I usually only got it with my cereal.
DGP1111 Posted September 1, 2010 #15 Share Posted September 1, 2010 . . . I guess I am wrong, OP. But I really thought I saw it when we were on the Dream. Sorry :o!! There's a good chance you did. We had whole milk onboard for the 9-nt sailing last December (we took on a shipment of milk in St. Thomas). There was also whole milk available on Carnival Destiny this past May. WeatherGeek Posted September 1, 2010 #16 Share Posted September 1, 2010 2% really will be just fine for a 17 month old for a few days! My daughter's ped actually advised us to skip whole milk altogether and give her 2% from the start since our families have histories of heart disease. Since toddlers need healthy fat in their diet, we supplemented with avocados as snacks 3-4x a week (avocados have healthy fat that is great for brain development without the sodium that comes with whole milk). She loved the avocados so it worked out nicely for us. Then we realized she constantly had diaper rash for several months, so we removed all milk proteins from her diet and it cleared right up. She's been drinking alternative milks ever since so I'm glad to know that soy will be available.
DocF Posted September 1, 2010 #17 Share Posted September 1, 2010 Dieticians and most physicians consider "whole" milk unhealthy as it is excessively fat laden. They feel 2% is what average folks should be consuming. Some states actually prohibit restaurants from serving whole milk. Doc

ChefSusan Posted September 4, 2010 #19 Share Posted September 4, 2010 The only way you can get hot milk is if you have breakfast/lunch in the MDR, or request it from Room Service. I have yet to see hot milk at the breakfast buffet on Lido.
