E-Cig onboard

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any info on using a PV(personal vaporizor) onboard Carnival Ships? My husband is wanting to know if he'll need to go to the smoking area for this.

Any info would be helpful! Thanks!

I saw them on my Destiny cruise and yes they were in the smoking area

Welcome Fellow Vapers!

I just made the switch myself as a result of seeing someone vaping on the Fantasy.

Mike vaped at our breakfast table in the MDR which was where I first noticed it and met with him and I saw him at other parts of the ship. In the Universe lounge, etc..

Noone has to be overly obvious, but I do not think anyone is going to notice once they learn what the E-cig is all about.

Good Luck and Happy Vaping!

I have not even seen one yet,:o but I have read they don't produce any smoke or smell.

If that is the case, why would they have to go to the smoking areas?

Thanks everyone for responding!

The e-cig doesn't smell and there isn't any smoke but it does produce a vapor which could be mistaken for smoking. I guess if he's not puffing out vapor it shouldn't be a problem. Fingers crossed!

I guess we'll find out in 20 days!!!

I'll post and let you all know how it goes.

Thanks again!!! :)

I have Blogger friends who used these on the Dream in December and they were allowed to smoke anywhere they wanted to.

(which is the main advantage of this product)

The only thing that you see is a little "wisp" of vapor...but there is no smell.

Now, obviously, until these become "the norm"...your husband will probably have a staffer come up and check to make sure he isn't "smoking"....

but as this becomes more and more the choice of smokers...."questions" will become less and less....

Since the smoker / nonsmoker debate has been going on forever, this certainly sounds like a win/win solution.

In fact, I think Carnival should carry the units and the cartridges at a CHEAPER price than anywhere else...they could make a lot of money and smokers could save some money as well!!

Have a wonderful cruise.

As I said I only saw them in the smoking area and this was last year.. so maybe as mentioned once they become the norm.. they will be allowed everywhere.. hope that happens for all those that use them;)

Why would you have to be in the smoking area?

1) There's no smoke

Be that as it may, but if CCL goes the way of some states, PVs will be treated like regular analog cigarettes and be confined to smoking areas. Yes, it's stupid as all get-out, but it's actually state law in NJ. I hope CCL doesn't take this same tack.

I'd expect that in California, not Jersey.

Based on my friend's experience, they were smoking the E cigs where ever they wanted to on the Dream. Which again was fine, because that is the purpose of the E Cig.

I would think that once they realize you are not really "smoking" you could use your e-cig anywhere

I wouldn't mind...in fact I would cheer you on <grin>

I have read that it might be a good idea to get one of the fancy ones that have a blue or pink tip and don't look as much like a lit cigarette

It will also be a great conversation starter and you might be the "hit" of the ship...non smokers will buddy up to you

I have seen them in the malls here and they are pretty amazing

Enjoy !

They already are allowed:D. Including on airplanes. Yes, we used them on the plane. When you buy the cigarette it comes with a little card to show any body questioning it.

It is the entire purpose of the cigarette.

It is the entire purpose of the cigarette.

And some airlines look at that little card and laugh and tell you to put it away.

The point being that PVs and e-cigs are still really new and people need to show a little bit of patience with the unitiated. In the end, CCL makes the rules and CCL can confine you to the smoking sections if they choose.

But don't be surprised if he gets a few nasty looks and possibly even some complaints- people can be really snarky when it comes to smoking these days. They'll "smell" something even if there is nothing to smell.

Spoken as a former smoker now a Committ adict

As I said, I saw a gentleman at our breakfast table in the MDR puff on one and I asked. I was a smoker at that time and have since made the switch.

I also received a card that says that is it not a cigarette. No fire, no flame, no smoke, no smell.

So for those who want to smell smoke where their is none.. they better watch out..lol

It's funny, I was considering posting here after a rather nasty discussion dissolved on the celebrity board about e-cigs.

I'm curious of your opinions..I'm totally pro-smoking where allowed, but from what I've read, there is an amount of nicotine that is exhaled and emitted from the cig itself. There's been no actual studies on the amount. (real studies, not a sales website just saying something)

I certainly agree they are better than a regular cigarette, including for the user, but nicotine is still the harmful substance.

If you were standing next to, say, a pregnant person, or an elderly person on oxygen and they were informed about what it was, but were concerned about second hand nicotine vapor, would you put it away, or continue using it?

A second question, for those that do use it, do you think your total usage (number of times you smoke a day) decreased after using it? I have a relative that has tried to quite numerous times and I think they would be interested.

I was a polite smoker and would move away from others. I smoked in our Sunroom and not in the house. Even while in the Casino and the smoking bars on ship. I would move away from others not smoking.

I have been on the ecig for less than 1 week, but yesterday, I sat beside some friends who were smoking tobacco and I did not have any urge to smoke a cigarette. I simply vaped. In fact, I was surrounded by smokers whom I hope to convert.

As to the question about nicotine.

Yes, it does contain nicotine, but the level can be increased or lowered depending on the brand /type. The vapor does not linger long so there should not be any issue.

I will say that based on what I have learned, be wary of the mall kiosk sales and they are extremely over priced and shop around

Their was a thread on the RCI board titled "Faux cigarettes" . I bought a disposable trial kit. {after reading the thread}. I'm going to buy a better brand now . There is a website all about vaporing. If I could at least cut down or better quit, it is a win win.
