So after the casino & pool we headed to the lido for lunch. I had a slice of pizza and salad. DH had a burger, fries and nachos. He said they were all good. To me, the chips from the nachos looked a little funny but DH said they were good and I did not get to try one so I have to take his word on it.

Food porn, as promised, even though it's Lido food porn....but tonight is elegant night, so you know what that means - Lobster!

After lunch we played bingo. I thought the bingo was a little expensive compared to the bingo halls we have here. But whatever, it's vacation. We decided ahead of time that we were only going to play once. Well, next time I will know that if so, don't do it the first sea day b/c the prizes get much larger towards the end of the week. We were playing for $150 prize (I think) and on the last sea day the prize was between $1500 - $5000. At any rate, we played, we lost, but it was fun.

After bingo it was nap time. It was soooo nice being able to nap daily. After our nap we got showered and ready for elegant night. There was such a variety of dress for elegant night. I saw one tux. A lot of ladies in evening gowns. Most guys had a dress shirt w/ a tie and some also had a jacket. DH wore khakis, dress shoes and a polo type shirt tucked in. I had on a black dress w/ black sweater. We were not the only ones not dressed up as much and did not feel out of place. I was doing good to get DH into those khakis! And every night that man wanted to wear shorts to dinner. And every night I made him wear jeans w/ a polo shirt tucked in. Even on the last night he pretended like he was going to get away with it! Sheesh!

So for dinner we both had the lobster and shrimp. I must admit, I didn't really care for the lobster. I always thought lobster was suppose to be tender. Mine was tough - I had to have a knife to cut it. But I haven't given up on it. I will try it again - it may not be until my next cruise, but I will try it again ;) For a starter I had the stuffed mushrooms which I did not really care for. I ate them all but would not order them again and a greek salad. DH ordered the shrimp cocktail and casear salad for a starter. When our salads arrived DH said that mine looked good. I offered to switch with him and he said ok, so I let him have it. He said it was good. My casear was good, but not as good as night #1. For dessert DH had the cherries jubilee and I had bitter & blanc. YUM! I don't usually like white chocolate but this was delish. Kinda strange - I love dark and milk chocolate but did not like the warm chocolate melting cake and I don't care for white chocolate but liked the bitter & blanc.

After dinner we saw the Xtreme Country Show and the 2 R rated comedy shows. All were good. It was a late night.

Coming up next - 1st port and I get an emergency call from home!

Hmmmm...I'll have to play around w/ the pictures.

Holly - yes I think your children will enjoy it. We are planning again, hopefully spring break or summer of 2012. My boys will be 7 and 11 at that time. I did peek around Camp Carnival because I wanted to see what it was like. Also I saw a group of children (maybe 5-6 age range) doing an activity in one of the lounges. I counted 8 children to 2 adults which I feel is a good ratio. From what I saw I feel comfortable leaving my kids there.

Post cruise blues?? lol. That's an understatement. I would give anything to be back on that ship! :)

Really enjoying your review. we were on the Triumph the same time and docked next to you in Cozumel. We are thinking of going on the Ecstasy next year. Just wanted to let you know the Ecstacy won't be in Galveston in 2012. It is moving to New Orleans late next year along with the Conquest. Galveston will get the Triumph and the new Carnival Magic.

Day 3:

We woke up earlier this day b/c we were in Progreso. Breakfast was on the Lido. We then stopped off at our room to grab the backpack. There was a note in the cabin which stated to call or come to guest services ASAP. I called & they said I had an emergency msg from home and if I came to guest services I could call. So I went there & they gave me a complimentary call home. I called my mother and found out that my stepfather's mom passed away. The service was Saturday - the day we were to leave. My mother said she talked to Carnival and they said if I speak to guest services I can arrange to be first off the ship. The service was at 2 pm but the family was having lunch at the church at 12 noon. It was a 3.5 hr drive from the port. That meant we had to be in the car driving by 8:30 am.

I told guest services what happened. They were awesome. They said if I needed to make any other calls due to this reason to just come to guest services and they will dial for me. They told me to be at guest services at 8 am and I would be with the first group off the ship.

I was not really close to my stepgrandmother so I was able to enjoy the rest of my cruise. My heart ached for my stepfather, who is like my father, but I had only seen his mom twice in the past 5 years.

We went on to enjoy Progreso. We did not do any excursions - just walked around and shopped. I don't think I'd get off the ship next time at this port or I would plan an excursion.

Here's some photos:

We assumed the lady that took this photo would have gotten the ship in the background...guess not. lol. But thank you anyway nice lady - I don't have many pics of me and DH together!

We stayed in Progreso for a couple of hours and then headed back to the ship.

We went and changed ate lunch at the Lido and then headed to the Serenity area. For awhile we were the only ones there. We took the loooooongest nap there. It was awesome. Then we went to get ready for dinner.

We had drinks before dinner nearly every night. In the MDR we both had fried mozzerella (sp?) for a starter. It was yummy. For my entree I had jerked pork loin, rice and sweet potato. All good. DH had the flat iron steak which he said was good, but not as good as our local restaurant which has steaks we love.

After dinner we watched the World Series (Go Texas!! yeah, that didn't really work out too well-lol) and went to karaoke. It was fun to watch the people that had the nerve to get up on stage...b/c I know I sure didn't!

Then we headed to bed. Next up - Cozumel!

I'm still lovin' your review! And it is nice to know there is football onboard. Good thing, right?

There is football but it might not be the game you want to see. We were on the Triumph out of New Orleans 2 weeks ago but the Saints game wasn't shown on the big screen or even in the rooms. That was un fortunate for Carnival because the Saints sucked. they surely would have sold lots of drinks suring and after that game ! :):):)
