How far is Playa del carmen from the cruise port and is that about the only thing worth doing while in Calica?

Playa del Carmen is about 10 minutes north of Calica. NO, it is not the only thing worthwhile. Playa is a fun place to shop and eat and wander and has a decent beach. However, if you are in the area you don't want to miss Xel Ha (inland saltwater snorkeling), or Xcaret (archeological theme park) or Rio Secreto or the Mayan Ruins at Tulum. So much to do in the area it is hard to choose.

I don't think of Akumal in terms of cruising. We have flown in and stayed in Akumal several times. It is great!
