Sailed Costa Mediterranea Eastern Carib and was pleased with all. This was our sixth cruise and all had been positive experiences. Costa Mediterranea was exceptional in that my wife's grament bag never made it to the ship. Costa Guest Services provided my wife a selection of gowns and free laundry service until her luggage was received. It never was, but because of the free gown and laundry service my wife was able to participate in every activity she wished with comfort and pleasure.

We found the staff to be more than competent and concerned with our desires. All the staff we encountered were bi-lingual and in many cases spoke four or more languages.

The meals were varied and good. The ship was impeccably clean. Embarkation and debarkation were smooth and quick.

We took two tours. One in San Juan to see the guitarist Juan Carlos who we had seen before and enjoyed his performance as much this time as the first time some twelve years ago. He is a first rate showman. In St. Thomas we took the Kon Tiki Tour and even though we could not participate in the some of the dancing, it was a most enjoyable three hours.

Catalina island was also a great place to spend a day. Beautiful beach, wonderful swimming, plenty of activities and a nice barbeque.

In Nassau we took a cab to Paradise Island and visited the Atlantis Aquarium and the Casino.

This was our third cruise with Costa. Other lines we sailed with were Cunard and Holland America.

Cruise was good except for unruly, unsupervised, underaged kids taking over the hot tubs (all of them) by 10 am. If you wanted to get in a hot tub - you had to be in by 10am and out shortly thereafter. I suspect the reason for this is that the water in the pools was too cold. In any event the hot tubs were not very hot.

Ship was clean, crew was friendly, food was not as good as some other lines but very adequate. Cocktails and softdrinks were the highest priced of any line I have been on.

Funny, I was on the same cruise and noticed that there were very few children anywhere. The ones I saw were well behaved and causing no trouble. Comparing other cruises the absense of kids was conspicuous. Mostly age 55 plus and European family reunions.

  • 2 weeks later...

I also returned from the same cruise on Feb 20th. I do have to say I was there with my children, and if it wasn't for the rules of the hot tub my children would not have been in it. The rules state that if you are 12 years old, or older you are able to enjoy the hot tub, so its not the kids fault or even the parents faults for letting me enjoy the hot tub. Kids are there also on vacation. There wasn't many kids onboard, but the ones that were around were very much well behaved considering the other letters that you read. I know they didn't call the state rooms, ring the door bells or run up and down the hallway.
