Golf in Playa del Carmen

Any info regarding golf in Playa del Carmen? Suggested course? Is it safe for a group of women to do on their own? Carnival does not offer a golf excursion in Playa. Ship docks at 7 AM and departs at 5 Pm. Do we have plenty of time?

Our driver took us through Playacart (?) which is right next to downtown. There was a security gate at the entrance as he said it is private property. Many resorts are there and vacation homes and in the center there is a golf course. We saw a bunch of people playing and all seems very safe so I think yes.
