Royal Wedding on Celebrity?

Sad to let you know, the wedding will NOT be held on a Celebrity ship, but in Westminster Abbey. If I were related to them, I would care. Otherwise, I wish them the same blessing that I wish on all wedded couples. May God bless them and their families.

I totally agree with you. May they have a long, happy life together. I hope to take the day off and watch the wedding live on tv.

We booked the transatlantic so that we would be in the UK in case they sent us an invitation. Alas, it must be lost in the mail....so we will have to just find something else to do that day, and it will certainly not be anywhere near London.

I called Celebrity, RCCL, and Captain's Club. They have no special plans to broadcast the wedding for either crew or passengers. Now, why not? For those of us, who want to see it, why not put it in the theatre?

I was told, the cruise director makes the call on this one. So if you want to see it and have a party with cake and champagne, then send a note, first day out to see to the Wedding Planner, and the Cruise Director, or before hand to the wedding planner at Celebrity.com You will have to scroll under the wedding section probably to find the proper email.;)

Attached is the UK press release:-

Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises & Azamara Club Cruises

Royal Caribbean have announced that they will be showing the wedding onboard all 40 ships across all three cruise lines. Passengers departing on the Celebrity Eclipse sailing on the 29th April can take a seat in the theatre to watch the ceremony before the ship departs, and passengers onboard the Independence of the Seas will be able to watch the ceremony in Studio B, the Pyramid Lounge and the Alhambra Theatre.

“This is the first major Royal wedding for the British people in decades, and a very good reason for a celebration on-board one of our ships,” said Dominic Paul, vice president and managing director RCL Cruise Ltd, UK and Ireland. “As soon as we knew the date, we started working to ensure our guests can relax in comfort and style whilst watching one of the most globally anticipated events of 2011”.

I call it bad planning. They didn't ask me if I would be able to view it and didn't send me an invitation so I guess I don't fit into their plans. I missed many relatives milestones so I don't feel bad about missing this one.

Life goes on and I wish them and their country the best.

As a Canadian, and a member of the Commonwealth, I have still never quite come to terms with why everybody gets so excited over this clan of inbreds who's claim to fame is based on some ridiculous birthright.

Yeah, I said it....

I hope to be at work all day, far from tv and radio, bad enough being at my own wedding.

As for the inbred comment, knock yourself out. However, if we are all descended from Adam and Eve, then I think we all fit in to that category.

Probably not appropriate to bring religion into this but just take a look at that Charles character and tell me that gene pool couldn't use a good cleaning. :D

I am not religious, the significant word was IF, it was a tongue in cheek remark based on the social background of my country of residence. I can't comment on the appearance of HRH, I may be dragged off to the tower of london.

You have to be kidding me.

Why would anyone care about that pompous B.S. ?

They are nothing but mere figure-heads in a world with serious economic and political problems that they have no impact on.

Others may view it differently. Fortunately, you don't have to watch or get involved if you don't want to. :)

What they really need on each ship is a designated common area/lounge/club, etc and dining areas where those of us who just don't care could be assured we wouldn't have to watch it, hear about it, talk about it, or think about it :D.

A few years ago, we cruised for 15 days prior to our general election. Not one word of politics, and it was wonderful. I would be equally pleased to miss all this hoopla too.

Happy Sails to You

Actually they do have a very positive affect on the economic situation. Think in terms of the affect that tourism has on the British economy and a large portion of that is visiting the historic sites of the Royal family.

When in Rome!!!!!

Think it best for you to sail out of Miami..then you have a whole ocean space free.

We would be more than happy to let you have your Halloween trick and treaters back after this low key British event was commercialised by the Americans.

We have celebrated all the USA events like thankgiving on ships and respected other culture traditions. It works both ways.....................

All our party of 10 are going to have a fantastic day and a party to celebrate!!!

If we had not booked the cruise we would be London just like we were for Jubilee weekend 2002.

I'll be in Southampton on April 29th and couldn't care less about the Royals. For those who do, X will broadcast the event in the Theater. I wish all young lovers (and not so young) well.

The rumor is that when you land in Southampton on the morning of the wedding they are going to make you stay on the Eclipse and send you to Cork on the same day. Is that true?

Apparently they're trying to get rid of all the "ne'er do wells" on the day of the wedding.:p
