ariel865 Posted March 27, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 27, 2011 Hi. I have searched and have not found an answer. On GSC do you have to walk far for the clam shells? Someone informed me they are far down the beach. Thank you
SeaShark Posted March 27, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 27, 2011 Different people have different interpretations of what "far" means. I guess it all depends on your point of view. I can tell you this. Once you leave the tender boat dock and start walking, the clam shells will be between you and the beach waterfront.
cruisin07family Posted March 27, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 27, 2011 Can these be rented ahead of time or only on the island?
GSLMOM Posted March 27, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 27, 2011 You can rent a clamshell after you get on the ship at the shore excursion desk.
livnlife6646 Posted March 27, 2011 #5 Share Posted March 27, 2011 Hi, We went in september 2010 and didn't find a need for a clam shell. If you get to hot just take a tender back to the boat.
pisces1 Posted March 27, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 27, 2011 If you don't qualify for priority disembarkation, a reserved clamshell counts as an excursion so you will be one of the first ones off the ship and in a tender which is important. They do sell out quickly if the ship is full. Keep in mind that you are not assigned a specific shell - it is first come first serve. They are lined in rows, so if you arrive late, you may get stuck in the second row, which means you will be staring at the backs of about 50 shells. Not too fun when the view is amazing. There are quite a few palm trees on the beach which also provide shade for regular loungers, but again, the earlier you arrive the better the selection. For example, our boat was the first launch to arrive on the island and the passengers scooped up most of the front row shells.
Barb Nahoumi Posted March 27, 2011 #7 Share Posted March 27, 2011 How much do they charge to rent a clamshell?
patseacruiser Posted March 28, 2011 #8 Share Posted March 28, 2011 I think it was $29 for a clam shell which had 2 loungers under it.
