Taxi to natural Bridge?

Hi, all!

We'll be in Aruba in early May. We've booked Jolly Pirates, so that will occupy 9 am - 2 pm. I understand that there is an internet cafe on the beach where you get off the Jolly Pirate ship, so my husband can do his e-mail thing while the kids play on the beach. Figure by the time he's done, it'll be 3 pm or so.

We want to see the Natural Bridge, but I don't think it will be worthwhile to rent a car/Jeep for a few hours. Does anyone have any idea how much a taxi would cost to the Natural Bridge? Even if you've done it from the port, it would give me an idea of the economy of scale.

Thanks much!

  • 2 weeks later...

Last week, the kids and I did horseback riding on the beach and DH did a dive. We hooked up again around 1:30-2:00 and ate lunch. The kids ditched us so DH & I went to the dock, rented an open air jeep, got a map and off we went. Three hours and $50.00 later we had a great time. We drove to the natural bridge, off to the sand dunes and lighthouse, over to hotel row where DH had to get his casino chip from the Hyatt (what a hobby - my foot!!) and back. It was the best $50 I've spent in ages - rent one, the driving is easy, the island is not that big and it was fun!!! Enjoy your cruise :)

Hi Debbie!

Well, did the Big Daddy win his bellyflop contest again????

We'll be arriving in Aruba April 26th for a week at the Rennasaince and plan to rent something to drive around. We want to see Natural bridge again but also the old gold mine and the other side of the island, and also do a horseback ride. Did you use Rancho-Notorious for your ride??

Stretch - how goes it....yes, he entered, but alas silver medal again. Believe it or not there was someone bigger than him (and I mean big!).

I loved Aruba, it was lovely. Yes, we used Rancho Notorius - specifically, I had Alib Baba, a frisky little thing. Jillian had Jou (Joe) and Alex had (??). The ride was interesting, through a "subdivision, beside a supermarket and then over to the beach". It was hot in jeans and runners, but I do recommend them. Our excursion was a good two hours on top of those babies and sore thighs and other things resulted!!! What I liked about these guys though was they let you trot, run not just walk all the time.

If you go to the Hyatt, play a few slots, the machine bells were aringing! Upon entry, go to 25 cent slots on your left. Walk all the way to the cashier's cages and play those rows to your immediate left. Specifically, the second row at the end, the girl playing that won over $ 2,000!!! dollars not tokens in about ten minutes....(bitch) :D

Our cruise was great - the ports were wonderful. We also did the America's Cup in St. Maarten (where True North, with me as captain, beat the pants off Stars & Stripes!) All of us loved it. We also hit Trunk Bay this trip when we went to St. Thomas and Seaquarium Beach in Curacao. I'd do this itinerary again in a minute! (And we won in Quest!!)

Have a blast in Aruba - make sure you also go to the lighthouse, it's a lovely view. Hi to Carol - Are you still doing the Celebrity cruisetour to Alaska??

See you on the boards - Deb

When you are finished with your excursion, hook up with one of the van drivers offering island tours. Its only ten or 12 bucks apiece and they'll take you all around the island, including a stop at natural bridge. We thought it was a very worthwhile way to spend the afternoon after our snorkeling.

Thanks Cal2632! That sounds terrific.

Where/when did you hook up with them? This doesn't have to be arranged in advance?

Are you with a larger group, or is it just your family/group? (I only ask because we'll have small children, and we may not want to do a long tour with others if they are tired and cranky - for everyone's sake!)

Thanks for any feedback!

They are always waiting just outside the gate, no need to reserve in advance. They do like to fill their van, we had 6 or 8 people as I remember, but I'm sure there are smaller vehicles or you could pay a little extra to get the van to yourself. It would still be cheaper than a ship excursion.

Sorry to be a pain...Did you mean outside the gate at Moomba Beach where we will be finishing our snorkeling excursion or do you mean outside the gate back at the pier?

Thanks for your continued assistance...
