Enchantment S-T-R-E-T-C-H

We booked on the Enchantment just before the news of the renovations to be done. I am really excited not only about the cruise itself but of the new additions, but then I find myself a little nervous knowing this thing is going to be cut in half and another portion added. This is porbaly done often but the first time I've heard of it. Anyone have some words of wisdom to calm my fears?

We will be on the Oct 24th sailing so it would have made a few trips. Also if anyone has any pics on Junior suite 8150 it would be greatly appreciated. This will be my first cruise without my DH. My Aunt and I are taking my Mom for her 70th Bday. She has never cruised before and loves the water, I know she will have a great time.

Don't worry about her being cut in half. They're using plenty of bungy cords to hold here together. Or, was that something else they're doing with bungy cords? ;) Check out the RCI website for all the details.

We'll be right behind you in 8172 on the same cruise!

To put it in very simple terms, ships are just plates of steel that have been welded together. Enchantment after the stretch will just have more plates of steel welded in to make it longer. This stretching of a ship has been done to several other ships in the past and they're all perfectly safe, no different that before.

DON'T WORRY!!! Go and enjoy the "new" Enchantment of the Seas! :)

Hey, if it splits apart, you will have 3 pieces to choose from instead of just two:D . We'll be on her for the 9/25 and 10/2 cruises. We've been on quite a number of ships that have gone through stretching. The center section is being built in Finland where RCCL pioneered stretching cruise ships with 2 of their original 3 [Nordic Prince and Song of Norway]. Royal Viking Line did all three of their original ships. The joining of the three pieces is being done in Germany.

Seriously, why do you think that duct tape is on the top of everyone's "Things to pack" list???? And don't worry, being "Stretched" is a good thing!

LOL! I just spilled diet coke all over my desk! :p :D :D :D :p

Myself and 9 of my girlfriends will also be on this sailing...There is a roll call thread started if you want to join in the chatter...

just be aware that the deck plan will change- not to bore you with details but we booked that ship in January for a Sep. sailing in an aft cabin. Then when the new deck plans came out- it was no longer an aft cabin! (well, the cabin probably was, the # wasn't). We were able to switch cabin #'s to get the aft we wanted (whew!)

The new deck plans are on the RCCL website but the old ones are in the Alaska/Canada 2005 brochure. If you booked your JS for specific location reasons (close to elevator, etc) you may want to double check where that cabin # is after the stretch.

we'll be on her 4 Sep Canada cruise- can't wait!

Denb,

We are booked in that same room on our cruise on Enchantment in January! Let us know what you think... and no wild parties in the room!

Just booked a July cruise to canada on the Enchantment. The deck plans on the website are actually still the old ones, the Alaska/Canada 2005 brochure has the new "stretched" deck plans.

The same thing happened to us. The RCI rep even guaranteed the new room # was an aft cabin with my initial booking. Not so! Luckily when I saw the new deck layouts I was able to have a different rep change it to an aft.

Thanks everyone!! I will be sure to pack duct tape and a few extra bungee cords.

I don't think there will be any major partying in the cabin, cruisin this time with my Mom and Aunt (Just as long as I get to go, I know I will have a great time.) I will have to find excitement elsewhere on the ship. Glad to see there are a few others here that will be on the same sailing hope to see you there maybe we can all party together. I was also told this was still going to be a aft cabin, it looks like it on the web site, I hope so.

NO, the deck plans on the website are the NEW ones.

They have both sets of deck plans. There are dates that you click on to view the deck plans you want to see.
Yes, but in typically efficient Royal Caribbean fashion, the new deck plans lurk in BOTH places. No old plans there.
