Your welcome joanne.

Its going to be a great cruise and I am sure there will be many from this board following your progress around the globe.

For those that dont know , here is the link to joannes blog

http://gaznjosworldcruise2011.blogspot.com/

She gives all sorts of great information about the cruise, plus links to everyone else who will be blogging.

Well done joanne.

Thought I would post this thread early so anyone else could come in and wish you Bon Voyage and also have the chance of chatting, before you set sail.

I shudder to think how much planning goes into being away on a cruise for 105 days.

Congratulations also everyone on the great Roll Call thread.

David,

Thank you for organising this thread, it is great to see not only the ports of call but the total distance we will travel. Our excitment for our 2011 cruise trebled when you posted photos of the Dawn Princess traversing through the Panama Canal last year. We appreciated the links.

We met on the Diamond Princess last year and I thanked you then but it is nice to put it in writing. Cheers

You will have a great time on this cruise :) - what a list of ports!

I am a bit worried about the later part of it though - because I read today that Samoa is going to move the International dateline!!. That is going to upset all your clocks and watches - and you are not going to know whether it is today, yesterday or tomorrow! :p Oh, the problems faced by World Cruisers!! :)

Joanne I'm sure you're going to enjoy every minute of this wonderful world cruise. I can't believe how quickly a year has past since the last one.

Our neighbours are boarding Dawn Princess tomorrow, and when they disembark you will be arriving at the wharf and will see a big Welcome to the 2011 World Cruise sign as you check in....:)

They (our neighbours) did the 2010 World Cruise so know how excited you will be as your board the ship on the 25th.

They wish they could stay on a do it all over again..:)

BON VOYAGE, and we'll all be 'watching you'....

Jilly:)

Something for you to think about.

When we went through the Asian part of our cruise to UK on Oriana - we found it to be very hot in the equatorial parts of the cruise. I suspect that parts of your cruise will also be very hot. It was so hot that the aircon on Oriana struggled to cope (and I have recently received an email from a friend on the Sun Princess which said that that ship's aircon was also struggling). I found that, in our cabin, it was not only a little too warm for us - but there was insufficient airflow. I would have paid anything to get hold of a small quiet room fan. I said over and over that "next time" I would bring a small fan.

I am not sure of where you live in regard to your departure from Sydney - but anyway, have a think about it.

Very good suggestion Barry. We were on a cruise once when the air con broke down in the tropics , and would loved to have had a fan .

If you are not limited by flight baggage weight constraints, it would be a good idea.

David

I recall from the blogs of the 2010 Dawn Princess WC - it was extremely hot in some of the ports that they visited - especially in the Indian and Middle eastern ports. ( Summer - Northern Hemisphere) That was why we were happy that we would be going through these areas in their winter - HOWEVER, it was still a lot hotter in places like Bangkok, Singapore and Mumbai than we thought it would be. I actually almost passed out from the heat in Singapore! and others also did in Bangkok (and this was in their Winter ) I remember going out onto the beautiful Promenade deck of Oriana one night - after a Captains reception wearing a Tuxedo - and it was like being slapped in the face with a hot wet towel!! :) Fortunately there were parts of Oriana where the aircon worked exceptionally well - but that is another story (extra cardigan, madam?? ) :p

Put all the clothes and the money on the bed - then halve the clothes and double the money!!! :p

Because of the "formality" of P&O UK , I took 6 jackets - a Tux, a suit and 4 sports coats ! I know, I know - my wife told me many times - over the top!! - and 5 pairs of shoes!
