Just Back From Infinity Cruise

Recommended Posts

We just got back from a cruise on Celebrity's Infinity... Valpariso, thru the Panama Canal and on to Florida.

My comments.... Nice ship, average food, entertainment was very uneven. We have never had better cabin guy service.

We were in cabin 7084 and had quite a lot of sea noise, expecially when the ship was going fast.

We have been on two Holland America cruises and would generally feel that they did a better job.

Glad to answer questions.

I was on the prior 2-week cruise (Buenos Aires to Valparaiso - 2/13 to 2/27), and thought everything was exceptional. Best cruise yet. Stayed in a Celebrity Suite (8104) - my first experience with a Butler and I am hooked! Feel free to email me too with any questions.

We're taking a 10 night Alaskan cruise on Infinity in June. It's great to see some Infinity info. I've been wondering why it seems that there is so much more info. on Connie & Millie on this board. Anyway, I would love some more detailed info. on the entertainment. We are a family of 3 w/ a 13 yo. son. We're mostly interested in after dinner & at sea, family entertainment. TIA :)

Hey tarheelmjfan,

I was on Infinity last April 2004 in Eastern Caribbean. I have to say so far it's my favorite Celebrity ship. The SS United States alone is wonderful. The crew was fantastic. Now I know there will probably be different crew aboard but some are bound to be the same. We had the best waiter. The food in the main dining room for lunch and dinner was very good.

The entertainment was nice, but basically the same Broadway type shows, magician, comedian, etc. They did have a really great acapella group, can't remember their name, but they were fantastic.

I'm sure you will enjoy the cruise. It was one of my favorites.

We just got back from Valpariso to Fort Lauderdale on Infinity. Any suggestions that Celebrity is cutting back on quality is IMO, absolutely not the case. As for our cruise on Infinity, nothing short of great. A review will be posted shortly.

FYI, Infinity was voted the best premium cruise ship in the world by Conda Nast Traveler.

I really agree - everything was excellent. The only two suggestions for improvement that I have are: (1) the piano player in Michael's was very average; didn't take many requests and had quite a boring personality, (2) the selection of music played by DJ Bruno in the Constellation was like being at a 1980's wedding reception! Bruno himself was extremely friendly with a great personality/sense of humor - but please update that music! But if these two things are my only complaints - that speaks to just how wonderful the overall Infinity experience really was.

Was there some type of after dinner show for an entire family to enjoy, every night? The "Broadway style" shows, comedians, & magicians are exactly what we are hoping for. :) Do you remember how many of each of these type shows there was? I've read enough to know that there is plenty of opportunity for listening to music & dancing. I seriously doubt that one would go thirsty either. ;) While our son is a serious music enthusiast, I doubt that something like a string quartet would do it for him. However, he is fairly discriminating about music, so if he feels that they are talented, he may enjoy it very much. He's really into listening to good, bass guitarists. I would love a more detailed description for the entertainment that our family (2 adults & (1) 13 yo.) should enjoy equally. Basically, if he enjoys it, we'll be happy just spending the time as a family. Thanks again :)

My wife and I thought everything was fantastic, the staff was outstanding. The only downside, if you can call it that, was I witnessed an altercation between two male passsengers vying for rail space as we entered the first lock of the canal. I also noticed a lot of frustration with people cutting into the varous buffet lines. We're not sure whether we would pay extra again for CC stateroom, the only perks in this class that we enjoyed was the oversized table on the balcony and the cushions on the balcony chairs. Overall a great cruise

We were on the 2/13/05 to 2/27/05 segment of the cruise and I thought that it was excellent. Were in CS7140 and John our butler was Outstanding. I thought the food was excellent and the crew were very friendly. Would take another cruise on the Infinity in a heartbeat.

Tarheellmjfan,

Best thing to do to see what goes on at night on the Infinity is to check out the dailies (the sheets you find on your bed each day that tells what is going to happen the next day including all the entertainment and teen stuff.

I have published the dailies from our 14 day Infinity cruise through the canal last November. You can see them at http://www.koobraey.com/cruisedailies/

Just a couple of quick questions for those just off Infinity.

Is Randy still shaking cocktails in the Martini Bar?

Is Wilhem still cutting the cheese (from the cheese cart) in the United States?

We are sailing on Infinity in the summer and we are looking forward to seeing them.

Wow! Thanks! I've been looking for this info., since we booked. :) I know I can find out everything once we get on the ship, but I want to know as much as possible before we sail. It helps to build the anticipation. :D

Am booked on this cruise in 2006. What did you do in the way of excursions?

Did you sail at near capacity? What was weather like? What was your opinion of the mix of nationalities? US, Canadian, European, SA? When you say average food, is this average cruise food, or were there specific things that you noted? Thanks for your thoughts? Walt
