i have a quick question whenever you're bored stiff (lolol like that could happen when you're cruisin')

in this pic of yours..

http://www.zydecocruiser.com/CarnivalMagic/May_01_2011/05Messina/may5_1/DSC_4923.JPG

there are 3 big vent looking things below the little mini-lifeboat. Do you know if those are indeed vents and if they make a lot of noise? I know originally i was going to go in 2298 (same as yours, right?) but i'm thinking if i go with 2284, i'd not have a big lifeboat overhead and could take advantage of that gap in the lifeboats and have a better view of the sky. But if those are indeed vents and they make a lot of noise or expell nasty smelly stuff, it wouldn't be worth it for the extra view.

Any idea on what they are and if they make noise? Thanks a ton.

May be covered in your other report but did they sell future cruise certificates on the Magic? Thanks.

Nice pictures, Bill. Is it easy for you to put some titles, so we know who or what are in the photos. On FB, one can 'tag' photos, so others can see which CC posters are at the M&G for example?

They are selling FCCs.

Don't notice them at all. More noise from door slammers. They do seem to have an automatic washer somewhere above us that around 12:15 rains some on our balcony.

Titles are on the list of things to do, but are about the most time consuming, so will probably wait until a sea day or two (in between naps).

Tonight we are going to probably skip the MDR and just do Lido.

I love it when you cruise!! Does the Cucina del Capitano offer the same Pasta bar menu for lunch as the Carnival Dream or is it closed at lunch?

I recall reading here on CC that most (?) of the casino is non-smoking.

Can you ballpark that for me?

Is only 25% smoking? More? Less? THANKS! Enjoying your reports so far! :)

Same pasta bar menu as Dream - better ambiance!

Same smoking as Dream, but I think the Magic casino is less "smokey".

The non-smoking piano bar is GREAT!

Thanks. I'm not familiar with the Dream policies, but I asked in a separate thread and got the answers I needed. ENJOY! :)

Thank you. It was a pleasure meeting you, as well.

can you do me a huge favor while your on the ship can you try to get me a past guest pin

No. I believe people need to earn the pins. Besides, the pins on Magic are a big disappointment.

I have spent hours on your website looking at the pictures over and over. DH is starting to get upset, as I am completely enthralled with each new set of photos, and he is being completely ignored .

Hi! Thanks for posting these great pics. Your Livorno photos bring back great memories!

We are sailing on the Magic in a Cove Balcony. I noticed your stateroom does not have a lifeboat above. I've searched the boards but have not been able to find which "coves" do not have lifeboats. Is that something you can investigate for me - if you have some down time, that is? I booked 2310. Am I in the clear?

Happy cruising! Chelle

You're (collectively) welcome! :)

Supposed to be crappy weather in Dubrovnik tomorrow (AGAIN). Oh well. It we were going to be in Italy somewhere, I'd say make limoncello? Not sure what they do in Croatia.

A couple of pages of sea day 1 posted, including a "galley" tour. Enjoy!

Great pics. I am really getting excited for our trip. We go on our cruise in 3 weeks. Did you take the train to Livorno? If so, how did you get to the train station. Does Carnival provide a shuttle into town? If so, how much was it. Carnivals excursion site has been down for 3-4 weeks. Can't wait to see more of your pictures.

We did not take the train. WIFI on the ship has been toast for a couple of days and then they blew the satellite up. we'll see how long it lasts this time.

are you getting sick of the ship yet? Our last cruise was a B2B and by the end, we were ready to come home!

I told my sister about what you said about the vents above the cove balcony (a couple doors down from you in cabin 2284). She said.. "ask Zydeco if he'll go to their cabin and ask them if the vents are noisy/stinky at all". I laughed, but said i would ask for her. It's her first cruise and she's understandably stoked! :)

btw, i love how all the harbour patrol guys either wave or gawk and stare at you as you take their photos.

Thank you so much for the pictures of the aft. I hope you get some good pictures of the aft-wraps, for the stateroom section of your review :D

Your pictures are just gorgeous!

What do you think of the cove balcony? Would you do it again? Have they closed the bad weather doors? We have one on the Breeze inaugural next year, but I am second guessing that decision.

You're welcome.

I did post so Carnival Magic aft pictures.

I can't find these. Would you mind posting a like. I swear I've searched and searched......... Are they of aft cabins or exterior aft? I did find your photos of the aft dining room area.

You take beautiful pictures!

Thanks!

I just found a link in another thread to some exterior shots of the Magic including aft http://www.zydecocruiser.com/CarnivalMagic/May_01_2011/05Messina/index4.htm

I'm still hoping to find some aft cabin photos.........not wrap, just aft.
