Captain Bill's World Cruise Continued....

Recommended Posts

Hi guys' date='

Looks like we have to start a new thread...... Ok[/quote']

Will be a pity to loose all that wonderful history, starting from the World Cruise, but understand space is a problem.

Guess everyone needs to ensure their contact details are on this new thread, so I'm now on!

I was wondering why we were seemingly immune to all the closings. It's kind of sad to see the old thread all locked up, like a ship being put into permanent drydock. [sniff]

Hopefully everyone comtinues to post here; I'd miss our little community if we drifted away. It's weird, but I can't tell you the number of times a day, something or other will remind me of one of you -- weird, isn't it?

Goodness yes, we will still be on here daily...... after all Clive and I have a mission in life..... to meet all of you on a cruise someday (right dear?) He reads this every day, even if he doesn't post very often. He is back at work and now is set up to take his computer with him so he is not left out of the loop with everything on Cruise Critic (and emails of course)!

Jaime has her bus ticket all booked for her trip to Clermont in Qld. This will be a real learning curve for her...... 11 weeks in the outback, she should like it though. She is hoping they will offer her a contract to stay another 2 years to do her country teaching requirement. Her boyfriend's uncle lives there too (what would be the chances of that? It has a population of 2300! Anyway, they got a phone call last night from his uncle offering him a job there starting monday. He is, needless to say, packing now and on his way. Funny how things work out, isn't it?

I know one thing though, I will miss Jaime terribly.....

I had to Google Map that one -- it's kinda in the middle of nowhere, isn't it?! What will she be teaching?

I'm glad that I was able to find this thread so fast.

They didn't give much warning about the change, did they?

I rarely post but I read this thread every day and you - as a group - have given me so many laughs and tears over the last couple of years.

I too haven't posted much, however, I have been lurking around. It was sad to read that they closed the other thread but I understand the reasoning behind it.

Wishing all of you a wonderful day :)...

I am in the same situation as you Pam plus we have that awful humidity down here in Louisiana!!! You cannot walk from your car to a building without sweating! I'm so ready for some cooler weather.

I am soooo over winter...... I can't wait until summer rolls around again..... I hate winter!!!!

I have been thinking of you during the current heatwave.

Humidity is the killer. I can well imagine what Louisiana must be like.

We have more humidity in southern Queensland during summer than we used to, whilst northern Queensland gets a lot of high humidity.

However, our winters are glorious, except for the lower minimums this year. Rug up Eileen in the mornings.

Just saw coverage of two planes which collided on Boston Logan Airport.

Not the way you want to commence a flight!

(Reminds me of the time we were due to depart Heathrow, when two planes collided due to wind gusts. We had to be offloaded to other planes, with the four of us scattered around the plane, with me frantic about the girls. When we got to Cincinati (?) we had an escorted run to our connecting flight to WDW Orlando.)

Now I'm waiting to see who is the entertainer who has brought such record crowds to NBC Studios.

When we visited Manhattan, we used to get up early to stand outside those studios, sometimes with hand written signs, so whoever was at home could see us. Not that it ever happened. :)

No, not pouring, more a miserable drizzle, Eileen.

The Friday concert on the Today Show (NBC) had Chris Brown as the entertainer. I changed the channel....

What's new with everybody? Today we had our closet system installed and it's great. Just hope I can arrange everything properly in there. It took the guy seven hours to unload his van and install the whole thing. They cost an arm and a leg, but we splurged here because "we're never moving again!". An exact quote!!

So, Sandi, do you have one of those fancy closets with different rod heights and drawers and slanted shelves for shoes and hooks for purses? I lust after a closet like that! Will you post a photo?

Thanks to the clever ones, who brought out the drinks.

Prost!

Now we just need some nibblies, Barb.

Have fun with your new wardrobe, Sandi. Wow - 7 hours to install - must be a beauty.

Did you know, in my grandmother's day, a closet was a toilet, hence wc water closet and ec is earth closet?

Being brought up by a grandmother, I was always old, Eileen.

Didn't mention my well spoken grandmother also called it a dunny, as well as the more polite lavatory.

I know when I visited the US for the first time, they didn't know what a toilet was and I thought it was strange that they called it a "bathroom".

We may as well share our little secret about our little houses down the back yard. :)

I had never heard of an "earth closet" so I googled it. Even at 52, I am learning something new everyday!

Funny - Greg and I picked up Davis last night and went to dinner before heading home. While at the restaurant, Davis called his grandpa that "big old tall dude"... hahaha!!!

Hope everyone has a great day!! Davis and I have a date with the pool.. IF it doesn't rain!!

Yes, when I was young and lived in the country of NSW we had an "earth closet" down the backyard. I remember always being scared about the redbacks out there. That deep dark hole scared me too. Not to mention the smell! Bring back the good ole days....... not that part of it that's for sure!

I've heard the expression "earth closet" before; I've seen 'em in Russia. Very interesting place, outside of the big cities. Let's just say that their idea of a highway rest stop is not the same as the average American's idea! I tell ya, if it weren't for the awesome vodka, delicious food, amazing culture, and cuddly Bolsheviks, that country wouldn't be worth a plugged nickel!!

Well Annie, it does have lots of rods (mostly double hanging, but 3' of long hanging for dresses and robes), drawers, shelves for shoes but I decided on the flat shelves instead of sloping, a tie rack, a belt rack, and two telescoping valet poles to aid us in packing for cruises (!!!!). How do we attach pictures?
