And all of you have something coming up in 76 - 100 days. Good for you. :D Wish I did too but I took myself off the wait list for Alaska. I kept checking on the sirfare to Fairbanks and home from Vancouver and the closer wer got, the higher the fare and the worse the flights were. Oh well, maybe next year.

The one time we did Alaska we went out of Seattle to get away from the higher fares. Good trip. I don't think I can talk Mary Lou into Alaska again. Too much rain for her. I liked it.

Good way to start the day Bob. I have to clean my golf clubs for a round this afternoon. Getting my game in shape for this coming Saturday. 2 of my sons and my best friend who just came up form Florida are playing what is called Bethpage Black. They have had several US Opens there including the 2009. So tough even Tiger couldn't break par there. But I suspect his mind was on that type of "playing around". No carts on this course, All walking. Tough on an old man. But I'll still beat my sons.

Hi all!

Looks like we're all settled into our new home!

Ann:cool: ~ that's too bad your Alaska cruise didn't come together. Those flights can be pricey! I'd love to go back to Alaska but return from Seattle. I have a cruise all picked out but nobody to go with. It's on HAL.:(

Bob ~ what's the problem with the hotel? I met up with a couple of people from the Canada Eh thread yesterday. It was so nice to see who I'd been chatting with

Grandpaul ~ enjoy your walk/golf game tomorrow! May the best man win!;)

Have a great weekend!

Got back about midnight last night from our golf adventure. To get a tee time there you have to get on the phone a week before and hope to get any time available. That's how busy this course is. We got a 2:39 PM tee time and it normally takes around 5 1/2 to play since you have to walk the whole thing. We got there early for lunch and we saw a time od 2:03 available so we got that. Now, if anyone tells you that Long Island is flat tell them they are way wrong. But maybe all the hills are on this particular course. Along with all the sand traps on the island. But I managed to par the last 2 holes to win. I had 3 pars all day. LOL. Anyway, we teed off 36 minutes ealrier than originally planned and we got to the 18th green and it started pouring. Lucky for us. Great day and a day of rest today. Maybe I'll watch the golf tournament on TV.

Plus a short visit with the twin Grandaughters. Hard to top that. Maybe a birdie or two would have been nice.

Yeah I would take 2 Granddaughters over 2 birdies, unless I'm playing for money.

I'm sure you'd find a way to work both of them into things.....:):):)

Great job on the diet Bob. My wife and her twin joined WeightWatchers and are doing well. I try and have my ice cream when they aren't around. But I have to play golf again tomorrow so that will be 3 times in 5 days. Maybe If I keep doing that I'll lose some weight.

Thanks Paul. I'm kinda cheating tonight as I was thrown off my workout schedule because of something that came up yesterday. Having a few beers while I cook dinner.

In addition to getting ready for the cruise, we have something way more important on our plate. We just got home from the vets where we found out our beloved Misha will need some surgery. Nothing life threatening, but we will still need to care for him during his recuperation period. I felt so bad for Holli earlier. When the vet told her about the surgery she was sitting on a chair in the exam room petting Misha. She started hugging him while telling him everything would be okay. This was while tears were welling up in her eyes. She and Misha are inseparable. I am so glad the news wasn't worse. I honestly don't know what she would do without him......

Hope all is well with Msha Bob. That's why we stopped having pets. We hated to lose them.

We had an interesting day in the neighborhood yesterday while I struggled on the golf course. Three woman got killed by a driver who's flip flop came off her foot and got stuck between the gas and brake pedal. Just about the same time they are widening our NYS Thruway just down the road from here and they struck 12 inch natural gas line. You could smell gas all over the place. I was glad it wasn't me. Only took them a little over an hour to shut down the line from when it happened but they evacuated people near it and shut down all the roads. The area was a big parking lot. I guess all that overwhelmed my golf game. Not by much though.

Paul;

Thanks for the kind words about Misha. Sorry to hear about the woman who lost her life. I've been to several fatal traffic accidents over the years that were caused by freak accidents/incidents. Some strange the way they occurred, but obviously tragic nonetheless.....

Hi all!

I've been following along on Tapatalk which I'm loving, gets to the threads fast!

Not loving replying on my Iphone tho'!

Grandpaul ~ what a tragedy, because of a flipflop! A few years ago 3 kids & their father were killed when somebody tried to flick away a bee while driving! Driving needs one's full attention!

Bob ~ WTG on the weight loss!:D What diet are you doing? I'm counting calories on

MyFitnessPal on my Iphone & loving it. I've lost 6.2 lbs in 1 month so it's a start!

DD did WW but now she's using this app too!

Sorry to hear about Misha needing surgery. Can it wait until you get back?

Ann:cool: ~ where are you? How was the family reunion?

Have a great weekend!

Hi Jo;

Mainly I've cutback on fast food, alcohol and a lot of carbs. I've kind of hit a little plateau as of late because my will power is waining a little. Going to redouble my efforts in the coming days.....

Hi all,

Been reading this thread but have not posted as I have been really busy.

Bob and Jo - Congratulaions on the weight loss. Way to go and even if you hit plateaus, it wll be temporary and you will be back on track soon.

Grandpaul - If you keep up all the golf, you are bound to loose weight also; especially with all the heat and humidity where you live.

Bob - I am so very sorry to hear about Misha. It is so difficult with pets as they are members of the family. I agree with Grandpaul regarding not having a pet currently as it is so difficult when they need help or get hurt. I hope that all goes well during the surgery and her recovery is quick.

The family reunion was great but so hot and so humid in St. Paul. I do not think you can ever get used to that weather. Next year we will host the reunion on the west coast and it will be in Vegas; may be hotter like a blow torch but at least no humidity.

Went to the Del Mar Race track last Saturday. That is the track close to San Diego that is almost rigt on the beach. Beautiful setting. I really needed Grandpaul there with me. Here is my story: This is the 5th year in a row that I have not collected on one race. My record is in tact. We stay for 5 races and I did not collect one penny. It really is beginning to be a huge joke. It is not that I pick long shots and I do not bet a great deal (for obvious resons) so I do not loose a lot. Now the others ask what I am betting and go the opposite in their bets. It really is beginning to be funny now. After the track, we went and spent the night at one of the casinos in the Temucula area. Did better there thank goodness.

Everyone have a wonderful weekend.

Ann, I've been to DelMar race track. Very beautiful. I just came from our beautiful track, Saratoga, and I won't bore you with how I did. They are having a good year up there with attendance and handle but I think it's because people aren't travelling this summer. Off to NY City on Tuesday to be in the audience for a TV show. Then to the Pompeii exhibit. I think Pompeii was the most interesting place I have ever been. Well, maybe except for Saratoga Race Track.

Thanks for the good thoughts for Misha. Glad you had a great family reunion despite the weather.....

Grandpaul,

You can bore me and tell me about the $100 and $1,000's of dollars that you won at the track. I am happy for others that do win. And who knows, one day it may be me.

I have to agree with you regarding Pompeii. It was the most moving environment that I have ever visited. It actually gave me goose bumps when the guide was talking about the chariots that rode down the street we were standing in at the moment.

What TV show are you going to see on Tuesday? Sounds like fun.

This TV show wasn't my idea believe me. Mary Lou is big into interior decorating. She does the planning and I do the work. She started watching a TV show starring someone named Nate Berkus who i sbig into decorating. I just hope I don't get picked to be on screen. LOL.

If I ever do get out to Del Mar race track again I'll show you how it's done. LOL. Our whole family has been going to the track for as long as I can remember. Some really fun times.

I love the Nate Burkus Show also. If I lived closer, I would gladly take your place at the taping. You will have to let us all know when the show is going to be aired so we can watcch. It airs here everyday @ 2:00 PM.

I look forward to the day when you are out here and can give pointers on the ponies. We all know I need it desperately.

I'll find out Tuesday, the day of the taping when it will be shown. I guess they do 2 shows a day.

Great and I will be anxious to know the showing date. Do not forget - Smile pretty in case you get on camera.
