When booking from home you must chose "one" benefit from RCI...... which includes balcony discount, if you are eligible, C&A Savings Certificate, if one becomes available or OBC from Shareholder Benefits. You can then combine "one" of these benefits with OBC from cashing in Visa Points, OBC from a TA or OBC that has been gifted to you by family and friends.

Any thoughts?

I said that whichever way you book your cruise, whether on board or at home, you can still combine an "OBC from cashing in Visa Points, OBC from a TA or OBC that has been gifted to you by family and friends" with anything you receive from RCI.

I received OBC from my TA, AND took the diamond balcony discount. I suppose what threw me off in your post was the "or"... Thanks for clarifiing~

OK, how about this: Can I use points from my Visa card for a companion fare AND still get the balcony discount, AND OBC from my TA?

I am seeing conflicting info on past posts, and was hoping you all could clear this up for me!

Thanks!

Would be better if you took OBC for your visa points, got your balcony discount plus TA OBC.

No problem!

OBC for Visa points would be $250. Value of companion fare is $500.

More bang for your buck to take the companion fare if it is doable...

I could be getting mixed up, but think I read here on CC that they just recently stopped allowing balcony discounts with some Visa points redemptions. I'd call the redemption people to be sure.

I guess that is what I was seeing too, but what I saw was for a free trip for two, not a companion fare... there in lies the question. Guess I have to make the call... Thanks for your input!

They used to split the balcony discount, half to each person. Recently, they started putting all the balcony discount on the first person. Just an accounting difference, but maybe you will luck out in that no portion of the balcony discount is applied to the second person. So the free companion fare (second person) is not combined with the balcony discount, and maybe would be allowed?

Please let us know what you find.

OK so I spoke to Callie at the Royal Rewards desk (1-888-305-4626) And she confirmed that any bookings made after 11-didn't catch the exact date-2011, you can no longer combine any "free" rewards (free companion, free cruise, youget the idea) with your balcony discount.

Just another blow to my budget/plans :/ oh well, back to the drawing board!

Thanks CC for your wisdom and advice!
