I spent 10 days in St Martin in April. no problem getting to Le Galion then, in fact the road was in the best shape I've seen it. Not sure when the storm was that your'e referring too but I hope to go go Le Galion next week when we stop there.

It's been a year since I've been there, but even then taxi drivers were trying the "no one will drive you there routine."

Taxi drivers do NOT LIKE going there because the road usually isn't in good shape and they have to drive very slow around all the potholes. A bigger factor is that they can fill up an entire van with people going to Orient and make more money and get there faster.

We were in St Marteen on Dec 29 2011 and went to Gallion beach. We toured the island (French & Netherland) and went to Gallion.

It's a beautiful beach, water is calm et a lot of shade. There's no problem with the road at all.

I think AntiHamstr is right for the reason why Taxi drivers don't want to go there. For us, as we're a big group, there's no problem 'coz we fill up the van!

FYI, the more you are, the better price you have.

Was the road not full of potholes? If that is the case then it has been fixed since last July.

For those of you that have been there.

Does this beach have places to eat and decent restaurants?? How crowded was it??

Thanks!

There is a bar/restaurant that rents chairs/umbrellas & will run you a tab. We had sodas, a chicken sandwich & chicken nuggets w/fried all were good.

It was very empty maybe 5 families tops.
