Our last 2 cuises were on the Oasis and the Allure. Found out that Johnny Rockets does the best breakfast. Also the first few days no one really knows they do it so there is never anyone there and you can sit on the boardwalk and eat in peace and its FREE! It is also great to look out the back of the ship have breakfast while going into ports.

  • 5 weeks later...
You can get your dessert from the dining room to go - or if you like the dessert, you can ask for extra to go.

This is a very good question. I am wondering about the speciality reasturants as well. I would prefer to eat my desert back in my cabin later on. Does anyone know if this is possible? To go dessert?:p

Yeah...I've seen that too. Sigh. The way I look at, if someone has taken the time and effort to dress up and do the whole formal thing, I'm not going to roll into the MDR in jeans. It's their cruise too. The whole dress up is part of the experience. I respect their choice. What goes around, comes around.

WOW! Someone who is considerate! What a concept!

Do they let passengers onto the helipad area at any time? How do you get there when you are on the Allure? I would love to see the night sky and all the stars that we don't see up north!

To get to the helipad go all the way forward on the promenade and up the steps. It will only be closed for inclement weather (including high wind/seas).

On the Radiance-Class ships (and Vision class too IIRC) there is an even better star-viewing place just above Deck 10 (just forward of the forward elevators). It's even darker than the helipad and doubles as an out-of-the-way sundeck in daytime. Get to it from Deck 10, go forward and up the steps.

Make sure to take binoculars.

I've never done it, but I'm sure you can - especially if you aren't getting a lot of dessert just so that you can take some back. Why should they care if you eat it in the restaurant or in your room? The staff is almost always accommodating - just ask! :)

It's true. I've had dessert to go from the MDR and Portofinos. Actually, at Ports, the waitress insisted that we try a particular dessert. We were stuffed and told her so, at which point she said "no problem; I'll pack it up for you. It'll fit in your fridge so you can enjoy it later."

The Helipad on Allure and Oasis is normally closed to the public. It is accessible on all the other ship classes I have been on. They do have a loyalty event (Platinum and up) on the Oasis helipad (and I assume Allure). For us it was held during sail away from the first port.

Do you just write an extra tip on the bar slip?

That's what we do on RCL and we love that feature. On the other lines we have cruised on, we have had to carry the cash and tip in cash. Consequently, we tend to not tip extra on the other lines.

Seems to me that the extra line on bar slip to add extra tip would make the bartenders happier.

It is also more adventageous to pick 1 or 2 bars per cruise to be your regular bar. Get to know the bartenders there. Those are the bartenders that you take very good care of and they take very good care of you.

Outdoor WJ seating? How is it that I've never found this? I presume it exists on Freedom, Liberty and Majesty and I've just been clueless?

If so, I'll have to find it on my next cruise.

Only on the Radiance class...

The first time we were on the Jewel, we would go to the Windjammer, get out food, and sit down at the nearest table. On the forth day, the Windjammer was pretty full and we kept walking back toward the stern looking for a table. It was a big surprise when we found the open air seating area.

I can't help but wonder how many people like us never found it.

Here are a two photos from my files.

And a video from a partial transit of the Panama Canal as we were heading east from the locks...

It may depend on the person working... I was told no, that I could no "cash out" my remaining OBC on the Explorer back in September. So I went to the Casino with the 3%.

No, it depends upon the source of the OBC. For exampe, VISA cards bonuses are "cashable", while WOW sale bonuses are not.

That or give some cash. Think the line prefers tip on the seapass but staff doesn't look sad when you hand them green.

Very true. We tried to go back to the same bar or bartender whenever possible. One bartender even told us what bars he was at when. Guess he liked the tips.

They are happy to pack your dessert "to go". In fact, on my last cruise they insisted upon it!
