And the Viking Saga Continues

Well, I was on the Viking Helvetia on 11/12 so got to enjoy the bus tour that was supposed to be a river cruise. I was flexiable during the trip and tried to put the best spin on it.

When i returned home I reached out to Viking to seek compensation. I was at first promised a call from a Mr. Marme. That call never came, i then recieved a call from an assistant to Mr. Marme who talked over my issues and promised to issue a 30% discount on a furture cruise between now and end of 2013. I said whatever as I doubt I wuold be financially able to go on another river crusie in that short time (got to save my pennys).

But here we are three weeks later, no apology letter, no coupon, no communication at all. While I was willing to give them a benefit of the doubt in this situation it's amazing that after all this they still have not even provided the discount coupon for my next cruise. I'm just floored that a company would do business like this.

Perhaps I'm a bit slow but when offered a 30% discount coupon, you said you didn't want it because you couldn't afford another cruise. Now your complaining they didn't send it?

You told them you didn't want it! Why would they send something you don't want?

So:

"I said whatever" == "I don't want it"???

And you said you're only "a bit" slow? I say you're very fast!

Fast and loose, that is.

Immediately, upon arriving home from the Danube river cruise earlier this month, Viking sent a letter about the compensation and a voucher. Viking did everything it could to make our river cruise as comfortable as it could considering we had to transfer ships, but we should consider ourselves fortunate that they had that option, plus the nice 5-star hotel in Budapest was very pleasant and next to the wonderful Christmas market.

I have been on 10 different river cruises including Viking, Vantage and Uniworld all companies are outstanding as far as I am concerned. The first river cruise that I went on (Rhine/Mosel) had the same problems as you did with low water level. It is not the fault of the cruise company that the water is low. That is an act of god. The same would apply if it rained everyday of your cruise. The company has no control over the weather. If you read the documents that the company send you pertaining to the conditions of the contract it specifically states in there that they have the right to make adjustments to any parts of the cruise depending on prevailing conditions. They are under no obligations to compensate you. The offer of a 30 percent discount is an offer of good will.

Did you even read my post???? I specifically said I was not complaining about the trip changes due to weather, but the hotels and food offered in exchange. I'm out, i can't deal with the interwebz stupidity this morning.
