Crime Scene on Splendor Cruise Ship? Carnival Won't Say

I really don't think Carnival owes any passenger an explanation. If anyone is disturbed or scared for their safety,(the neighbors across the hall) why in the world would you stay in that situation. ???? You can leave anywhere at anytime......

Secondly, each ship is registered to a foreign...not U.S. country and they are in international waters, so who exactly are the 'police' in that situation?

Well, like the person on the website who replied to the story, I will certainly think twice before cruising again.

I do not want to expose myself or my kids to that kind of scene and I know that nowhere else on the planet did alcohol lead to a violent domestic incident. Im sure that it never happens in hotels, or in residential areas anywhere.

That website is fixated on the horrors of cruising and completely fails to acknowledge that people can do bad things anywhere. Idiot gets drunk and starts fight, or attacks spouse, or whatever, somehow it's the ship's fault.

I assure you that if they ship didn't clean everything right away, there would be an article on the same guy's site about how being in a cabin on a cruise ship is a biohazard.

The guy who runs that site is probably bitter because somebody didn't take him on a cruise when he was a little boy or something.

We were on this cruise and the story we heard was he beat the women and he was taken off of the ship in PV, she was told she could stay, but said she loved him and wanted to get off in PV with him.

No, he is a plaintiff's attorney.

Who. Cares. Read the Police Beat in your local newspaper, probably 10 times as entertaining.

My local newspaper certainly has a more interesting crime blotter! After reading the website where I found the original article, I realized it was not worth another thought, but I had already posted the article link.

Love the comments though!

Haha, well, that happens. Things on ships just get blown out of proportion some times.

I'll read a headline "virus outbreak on cruiseship" then you start reading it and it ends up being 5 people who got sick. I mean, if those 2500 passengers had stayed home I bet 5 would have gotten a virus! :)

It's in essence a small town at sea....things happen.

"Ship Happens" ;)

Saw this update at the bottom of the article:

December 21, 2011 Update: This article was picked up by the popular Cruise Critic online community and posted in a thread on the message board. How did the concerned Cruise Critic cruise fans react to the bloody crime scene and Carnival's spoliation of evidence?

Read their comments like "Doesn't affect me . . . Who cares . . . Ship happens" which you can read here. Unfortunately, this type of complacency perpetuates the sorry state of affairs on cruise ships where cruise lines destroy evidence knowing that their fan base doesn't care."

I guess he's upset that we aren't as freaked out about it as we ought to be.:D

We were on the Conquest back in November when a domestic situation occured about 3 am outside our cabin. By the time I awoke, found my glasses and got to the phone to call guest services 2 security guards had the guy penned to the floor putting the cuffs on him.

They were very quick, I have no problem the way Carnival handles security issues.

As far as Carnival not sharing...Try demanding that or local police department give details about a Domestic that happens next door to you. Most likely you'll get the same reply that Carnival guests got. What is the point of worrying about something that is already over. There is none. People just wanted the scoop.

The across the hall neighbor sure saw a lot thru that peephole. I cant imagine standing there and peeping that much .. I would have gone back to bed.

Thing is to have noted the time the altercation started and when it ended without doing anything to help makes this "person" an accomplice. They stood there and listened to and watched what was happening and did NOTHING to stop it or help the woman.

I would be embarrassed to relate such a story and let the world know what a coward I was.

I could only hope if something this horrible (and loud) were happening to me on a cruise ship that someone would have the decency to call for help for me instead of taking freakin' notes on the time and level of abuse I was enduring.

Jeez. Can't say much more than that.

I was on the Splendor and around room 1306. I actually recorded some of the screaming on my cell phone. Prior to the altercation at 3:00 am, a male was on the phone complaining about his alcoholic (girlfriend, wife? I don't remember) At the time, it was funny to listen to this guy run his mouth to his friend on the phone. At 3:00 a.m, my boyfriend and I were woken up to HORRIFIC, TERRIFYING, BLOODY MURDER screaming coming from a female. I was too scared to go outside, and was half asleep. I recorded a little bit of the woman screaming. She was screaming "WHY?!, HE BIT MY HAND! I NEED MY!..." repeatedly over and over and over. I could tell you first hand that this was a horrific situation. We then heard the male in the room screaming "get her the F outta here!!!" We were up for a couple hours still shaken up, curious, and slightly nauseated. I figured if I asked guest services what had happened, they wouldn't tell me anyways. Thanks OP for the article.

(Just read some comments on the article also...thankfully I didn't see what others saw)

Next time, he may kill her and then she won't have any choice but to ride back to Long Beach in the "cooler".

Also, just reading the comment above mine shortly after posting...I was not aware as to how far away this was going on. As it did sound like they were in my room, I was so confused and dazed that I had no perception of anything really. As I looked out my peephole, I saw my neighbor across the hall go outside to check. I believe by the time I was woken up, people had already come to assist the situation because I did hear other men talking calmly as the male involved was yelling still. I suppose it's a "had to be there" situation but I don't believe calling anyone a coward is beneficial at this point. Who could have known what had happened if any one of us near this couple would have walked out?
