Waterslide

Recommended Posts

There was a thread about a possible lawsuit that was rumored and floating around here on the CC board....for recent cruisers can you tell me if the slide was open and what ship you were on....

thanks....this should also be very helpful to the people who read it...

Hi I was on the Pride April 10th through the 17th and the waterslide was broken. It has been down for the last three weeks.

I was mad.

When you are stating that the slide was closed during your cruise could you tell us if it was windy or cool out on that deck during your week?

Slide closed on the Spirit 3/25 sailing. The weather was a bit chilly, but fine after the first at sea day.

hmmm. interesting. We were on the Conquest in Feb. A person in our group had slipped on deck the first day at sea and hurt his hand. He saw the ship's doctor and did a follow up in Grand Cayman. The ship's medical staff was great! But what was kind of odd and creepy in a way was on the last day at sea, we all decided we had to go down the slide. When our friend who had fallen got down the slide, the ships doctor was waiting at the bottom to ask him how his hand was feeling. Hmmm. We've talked about that several times and wonder if he was there to let us know that he'd been seen on the slide or to head off any thoughts of lawsuit. It was just weird.

The Valor slide was open Easter week, Mar27-April3. The kids had a blast on it! Everyday it was open, sea days it opened at 10:00am, the other days was about noon.

From what I have read over the past few months is it's the slide on The Legend that has been steadily closed down. Now that the ship is in dry dock, maybe it'll be repaired ( I hope ):)

We were on the sensation 4/9-4/14. It was open on the normal times listed on the capers.

My family will be going on the Legend the first week in June,(first cruise) do you think it will be open? How long does it take to fix?

We were on the Pride 04/03/05 - 04/10/05.

The slide was shut down the entire week.

Disappointed as it was fun last year on the Legend.

We just got off the Triumph this past Saturday, 4/16, and the slide was open all week. We had a great time on it!

Someone has mentioned a possible lawsuit over a waterslide incident. Don't know if there is any truth to this rumor but will say that when my husband went down the slide on the Legend he said he slammed into a wall of sorts that they have at the end of the landing pool. He said there's not enough of an incline to slow you down sufficiently before hitting that wall. Probably all of the Spirit class slides are similar and those are the ones that seem to be shut down. So it could be that someone had an accident with one of these walls and they are trying to figure out a fix. He has been down slides on the Destiny and Victory and said those were set up differently.

Legend is in drydock. That means it will be good and ready for us. :)

Spirits was closed the entire week of April 2-10. Absolutely could have been open atleast 5 of the days. Probably not the 1st 1 or last 2 but all the other days were fine. My son was very dissapointed.

I think the problem may be with the slides that don't go into the pools. The Elations went into the pool and was no problem, the Spirits goes into a little box of water at the end. That in itself was bad since all the pictures lead you to believe otherwise.

Happy Cruising,

Donna

FYI - Just spoke to my mother live from the Pride. The waterslide is closed, but she spoke to someone named Katherin that works on the ship who said it should be open by my sail date of May 15th. One can only hope...

We sailed on the Glory last week - 4/9 and it was open - used it several times myself! Hours were 12:00 - 5:00 p.m. It was even open on our first sea day which was very windy.

So it is looking like it's just the Spirit class slides that are closed. Maybe it does have something to do with the way that wall is placed in the landing area. Time will tell.
