The Dawn

Hello every one

Regarding the wave Dawn ran into, well these things happens, and with the change of weather because of the global warming I think we will see it more often as well as the hurricanes. That together with the increasing amount of cruiseships increases the chanse for something like this to happen.

BUT, what is worst, is that shoreside office who is planning the cruises for the different ships do NOT take any weather into consideration. When for example Dawn came out from Germany, she was designed for a topspeed of 25 knots. This does not mean that you should run 25 knots all the time. I mean, you never drive at the topspeed of your car(I hope:) ). But this is what they calculate with, and that of course is very bad for the propulsion system and as well as being on schedule when encountering bad weather, and every sailor knows that the area around cape hatteras during wintertime is not the best place to be.

Take care
