Viking Mekong River Cruise

Several years ago my husband and I took the Viking China Yahtzee River cruise and are now looking at the Vietnam + Cambodia + Mekong River Cruise. If anyone has been on this one, either on the RV Tonle or the RV Indochina I am very interested in your comments.

Hi Twototravel,

 

We just completed a Siem Reap to Ho Chi Minh City cruise on the Mekong Pandaw in February 2012. It was excellant. Unfortuneately it appears Fletcher did not have a good cruise if you read his post.

There was nothing that we could fault or complain about, the service/food/accommodation/tours where very professionaly carried out. I think the RV Indochina is a sister ship to the Mekong Pandaw and the RV Tonle is of a different design.

It's a great trip to take and we are planning to do one of Pandaw's Burma river cruises next year. We booked direct with Pandaw and would do the same again, cheers

What's the difference in going Saigon to Hanoi or the opposite direction Hanoi to Saigon? Is going up or down the Mekong have any advantages/disadvantages?

Think you mean Siem Reap to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) or up river, down river. I don't think there is any advantage/disadvantage probably more a matter of what flight arrangements and pre and post plans you have.

Well, we booked our cruise for next Sept, leaving on the 22 Sep 2013. We are doing the 3 night pre trip extension Bangkok first.
