jonrs Posted April 18, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2012 We are on the Jade in late June of this year and wondering what kind of seas we can expect that time of year. Anyone been on that route and can advise about ship rocking or wave size and such?? Thanks!
kadey Posted April 18, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2012 We did Venice to Greece in mid June. We had smooth sailing the whole trip! The only time we experienced some wind was when we were leaving Mykonos late at night. We left a few hours late but had smooth sailing to Athens. It was a fabulous trip! Enjoy!!-Kade
CruiserBruce Posted April 18, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 18, 2012 The Med is very calm in the summer time. Late summer- into October- winds can be a problem.
jonrs Posted April 18, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted April 18, 2012 Thanks! Wife wants to know if she will feel the ship moving at all? I figure you have to feel a little wave movement even in the calmest seas...
CruiserBruce Posted April 18, 2012 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2012 Out of 15 cruises, our 20 day Med cruise (in August) was the calmest. If it weren't windy on the open decks from the movement of the ship, we wouldn't have known the ship was moving.

Rare John Bull Posted April 18, 2012 #7 Share Posted April 18, 2012 We are on the Jade in late June of this year and wondering what kind of seas we can expect that time of year. Anyone been on that route and can advise about ship rocking or wave size and such??Thanks! Everyone else has told you the Med is usually pretty smooth. The Adriatic ('tween Italy & Greece) is usually the calmest part of the Med.:) Butof course no guarantees. It can sometimes turn round & bite you on the backside ;) JB :)
Dayenu Posted April 18, 2012 #8 Share Posted April 18, 2012 We were in May - the sea was flat. I am prone to motion sickness, this was the quietest of all cruises.
snaebyllej Posted April 18, 2012 #9 Share Posted April 18, 2012 On our May '94 cruise from Piraeus to Venice we experienced a violent storm while at Rhodes. The sky went all purple, and the wind was so strong you couldn't stand upright on the pier. It was amazing watching the little Stella Oceanis pitch and roll right at the dock. Taxguy77 Posted April 19, 2012 #10 Share Posted April 19, 2012 We sailed from Venice to one of the Greek isles to Sicily on a 225 pax clipper. It was so calm, our one sea day which was under sail only, the Capt. could not even demonstrate tacking. There was enough breeze to stay comfortable, though.
