Did Caribbean port taxes recently increase???

We took the Constellation eight island cruise in April. Taxes and fees were minimal.

 

We booked the Eclipse for the same cruise in 2013. Port taxes are at least 600.00 more. That seems questionable. Does anyone know what is going on?? Are the taxes US taxes to soak the so called rich (and thereby limit travel) or did all of the islands increase fees ????

 

I asked another TA and Celebrity to check the fares. Their booking attempts also reflected greatly increased taxes.

I did some additional digging.... All is well. For self-admitted detail mavens like me :) , I wish the statements had a complete breakdown of charges including port charges by port.

I did not think it was the port taxes. What was the difference due to?
