Norwegian Sky Engine Trouble Again?

The Sky always creeps along. At the speed of those other ships, the Sky would make the Bahamas in hours. When I first was on the Sky, I was surprised how slow she went. But it made a nice smooth journey to the Bahamas for an early morning arrival.

Cruise ships don't need to travel at anything close to top speed to cover the relatively short nautical distance between Miami & the Bahamas - engine could be just fine, not to worry ... Besides, it can easily make it up in the next 9 or 10 hours, after most folks get to enjoy their dinner, attend the show & began exploring the casino, disco & whatever - and, then - the Capt. can order Full Ahead on its modern verison of EOT.

Afterall, the Majesty is only doing 10 knots & Imagination at 14 knots, unlikely any one of them having engine trouble ... It's not unusual for ships to arrive early & close to its next port of calls and do a slow circle/remaining nearly stationary in open water - and then slowly "creep" into the pier to dock in the predawan hours.

Yes the weather is a factor tonight in Miami. Powerful electrical storms near downtown and just off the coast of the port of Miami. I am sure the weather is related to the travel of the ship. Things are really bad on Miami Beach tonight, downtown and just off the coast. Extremely heavy rain and tons of lighting.

even if a ship is moving slowly and / or turns, there are other explanations. a short trip is one. Another sadly common one...medical issue. I recall being at dinner at sail away for a transatlantic cruise when a older gent passed out...lives change in seconds.
