midwestchick Posted July 27, 2012 #1 Posted July 27, 2012 Our TA booked our cruise and the air is free through Azamara. But, when I called Azamara today, the girl in FL told me that flights would be assigned 60 days prior to our cruise. I then explained we were sailing out on Sept. 1 and flying from Chicago and didn't have 60 days and she repeated the same thing again  ...since I could not get in contact with my TA today this has caused a little concern for me. I just read another thread and it seems the flight times and layovers are not the best. We did not book any extra days prior to or after our cruise. I do know we are flying into Nice, France from O'Hare. Sorry for the questions and concerns but this is a whole new travel scenario for me. Also, Azamara is still behind on sending the final link I need to my TA to go to their website and do my final registration...just slightly frustrated right now. :(
marinaro44 Posted July 27, 2012 #2 Posted July 27, 2012 I just read another thread and it seems the flight times and layovers are not the best. We booked free air through Azamara for our one Azamara cruise and the flight times and layovers were just fine. I suspect you will see complaints here by those who felt there were issues with their flights, but will not see people whose flight arrangements were just fine going out of their way to say so. It's quite likely you'll have no problem so why fret over something until you know it's something to fret over.
laurieb Posted July 27, 2012 #3 Posted July 27, 2012 I'm sure there's no need for concern. we're still waiting for ours too. looking forward to getting them so I can book our flight to Seattle. I believe Azamara says it's 45 to 60 days.
L.A.Lawyers Posted July 27, 2012 #4 Posted July 27, 2012 The phone number for "standard air" (free air) flight information is 877.999.9553. If you have a travel agent, they will have to call for the info. We sail Sept.12 and got our flight info a few days ago. Good luck! We were very happy with our flight schedule.

Did your TA call or did it show up on your reservation?

That makes me feel a little better....fret is my middle name, :o :D especially if we're doing something totally new. I was supposed to have a link from my TA this week (sent to him by Azamara) so I could finish my registration but I did not receive it. Where do you fly out of?
Angiet2 Posted July 28, 2012 #7 Posted July 28, 2012 We just returned from a 'free air' cruise with Azamara (not Choice Air...traditional cruise line air). We were very pleased. We were San Diego to Copenhagen (via JFK) and Azamara did a great job! Be sure that if you are on a domestic carrier (Delta/American/United, etc.) and legroom is important to you, to get your **Airline** confirmation number from either your TA or have the airline look it up for you; then, check and see what the cost would be to 'upgrade' to Economy Comfort/Premium Economy, etc. We did that on our international free flights and LOVED it! We had exit row seating and had probably 8 feet of legroom (plus complimentary cocktails during the international portion of our flight! Nice!). :)
Dick in Falls Church Posted July 30, 2012 #9 Posted July 30, 2012 Just returned from Journey, with "free" air. Bookings were fine, though my wife did call the TA to find out flight info, and the TA had to go to Azamara to get info, Now, that we had to sit in Edinburgh airport for 23 hours waiting for United Air was definitely not Azamara's fault. And, or course, that meant that connection flights were also messed up. I've returned from Asia in less time! And really, United was the most logical connection available for that leg. I will say that the small United staff in Edinburg did their best with the info they had available (while politely fending off disgruntled passengers intent on killing the messenger). Years ago, we were on our first Azamara trip, and the connection in Houston was about 40 minutes, which we were really concerned about. Turned out that our departure gate was right next to the arrival gate, and all was well. The only real concern I have is that the relative inability to change their itinerary without (probably considerable) additional expense rather precludes going in to the departure port at least a day early.
