New predictions for upcoming hurricane season

Well, I don't have much choice on when to book if I want to celibrate my 40th wedding anniversary on a cruise (and I really, really do:D ). We are booked on Zuiderdam leaving FFL on Oct. 1st. At least this is towards the end of hurrican season:eek: .

I work for a major insurer and they have already begun the process of having emergency volunteers who will be put on 24 hours notice to leave their respective states and head to hurricane damaged areas. I'm in Texas, where we have tornados, but the hurricane season is expecting to be bad enough that they are sending us out.

 

I did this last year (it was forced though, as the storms were such a surprise to the company) and I'm glad I'll be leaving the company before I can be put on the list again.

Hailing from sunny, central Florida we got really good at living through hurricanes and dealing with the aftermath last year:p This year, we'll be even better prepared, but I won't be 'expecting' anything but sunshine and smooth sailing. Life is just more fun that way. Whatever happens, we deal;)

You are SOOO right Doone. I think I made reference in one of my earlier posts in this thread that the whole East Coast is vulnerable to Hurricanes. We have certainly had our share in the past. We've been relatively lucky in recent years but I am always cognizant, Boston could be the bullseye of any of these storms.

FYI: Eastern Pacific Hurricane season starts May 15-end of Oct. Atlantic Hurricane season starts June 1-Oct 31. (Can extend into Nov -- in 01 there was a Hurricane in early Nov in western caribbean.)

Thank you for the great web sites. Hurricane season for the Atlantic lasts from June 1st until November 30th, and we have had hurricanes into December. It can be a long six months for those of us in the south.
