...it may be too tough for Woody Hayes to figure out in his "advanced" years.......;):D

Woody Hayes!

Some people are just too sensitive. A man who very possibly committed a crime and was fleeing capture jumps WITH a life ring in an escape attempt, thus altering the cruise for all 2000+ people on board and I am disgusting because I call the man out as being solely responsible for it.

Yeah, we are living in bizzaro land these days.

As far as go under or float, good question. It depends where he entered the water alongside the ship. Your thoughts, Ed, are on track. It is possible he went under the ship.

I may be wrong but otherwise it would generally be a day or two before someone would sink...

Actually, just the opposite. A body is full of water. Fill the lungs with water, and given the warm, moving water off Florida, a body can sink pretty quick. It would refloat a day or two later when decomp fills the body with gas. But by then, other unimaginables probably occurred.

Speculation, of course. Just giving info, not saying this is the case.

Ha! My wife and I debated that the other night. I thought it wouldn't take long to sink and she said it would take a while. I deferred to her medical expertise. I guess it depends on the circumstances.

Also, hypothetical, if this just dies out in the news will there come a time when you can still update us?

Edit: Feel free to ignore the question if I overstepped...I don't want to get you in trouble or anything...

If you are calling me "Woody Hayes" ... better think again... I am a woman, and not in "advanced" years... mature... yes... much more mature that some here... really... Yes, I am sensitive when it involves loss of life, as many here have posted the same feelings... It is just those few that want to be cruel to try to stir the pot... I won't respond to any more of your childish posts...

Aquahound is correct if the body is filled with water it will sink also..... then if there is blood sharks will eat.

I wondering whether this soldier who was in a confrontation with this female crew member if he met her on facebook or another online site. Perhaps it was planned to meet, not sure what happend thats one puzzle piece that missing, all we know that security guard arrived and used pepper spray then this guy flees the security guy and can't get away and jumps ship. Seems to me that something was caught on camera bring the security guard on the actual sight.

I say pieces to the puzzle yet to be revealed to us. I know Carnival has security cameras but notsure if we ever get the truth as there are too many questions that yet has been answered.

So, I just wanted to share something we just had to deal with and realized how a bad situations can mess with your mind.

So, today is my youngest daughters 18th birthday and we decided to have a get together at our favorite restaurant. As we were driving up to this restaurant we noticed a train stopped completely right next to the restaurant and police everywhere. Turns out someone got killed by the train! Not sure on how or why but as we were sitting there trying to celebrate we all once in a while looked over to the railroad and just said" how sad" these things do happen no matter if you are on a cruise or not. So I am tired of reading these cruel responses how someone messed their vacation up after saving their hard earned money. This kind of stuff happens EVERYWHERE ! This is my daughters 18 Birthday and yes it was sad seeing all the cops everywhere and knowing someone lost his life but you have to go on and just deal with it! It's life! I feel bad but you have to go on!

That was nothing like the cruise event. To start off you were not gotten up out of your bed for a head count in the middle of the night. You could have chosen to go some where else. You were still able to go to the restrauant and have your party. Except for stopping occassionally and saying, oh how sad, you lost nothing. The next day all will be forgotten and you will go on your merry way. No where close. Nothing was changed for you except knowing someone died.

Who are you to tell anyone they should not cruise? Maybe you should be telling people not to jump off the ship instead.

I don't! All I am saying is that these accidents do happen and to be aware of it when you book your cruise! Simple as that.

I was on this cruise. I didnt see this happen but talked to a woman who did. Apparently he was in the casino (maybe fighting or arguing with his gf) and being chased by security. He was up on the verandah deck and tried to jump but someone had tried to grab him so he fell to the lido deck. He grabbed a life ring and jumped off inro rhe ocean. The captain was notified and we turned around for five hours until the coast guard released us. We missed or port of call to key west. Call me insensitive but Im pissed. This was my familys first cruise. My kids were with me. I could have picked a shorter cruise to go to Nassau and Freeport. I had heard that Freeport wasnt much fun so I chose Key West.

This guy not onlt ruined his life but the people he was with and it spoiled a vacation for 2000 other people.

I do feel bad for his family and gf (i heard she saw him jump). But i dont have any compassion for his idiocy. If he had ptsd i feel like he should be getting counselling and treatment instead of getting so trashed and acting like an idiot on a vacation for 2000 other people. The atmosphere on the lido deck was quiet and the effects of this hit everyone aboard. My vacation was ruined. My kids saved and saved for souveniers from key west and got nothing..

This guys drunken actions affected every single person on the boat in one way or another and had he just taken the consequences of his actions, hed still have his life and everone could have enjoyed the vacation we planned and paid for.

Also, our cruise wasnt late into jaxport. We arrived around 6 am. Sorry for any spelling errors etc. I am still in the car on my way back to Michigan from Jacksonville on my phone.
