Amtrak picking up for SWAirlines MCO to MIA

Im in the middle of planning another trip and needed to make a train reservation, and an ad caught my eye. Amtrak is doing MCO to MIA for $41.

 

I recalled some complaints that Southwest was canceling their MCO to FLL runs, and wanted to pass on to those in the Orlando area that you might want to look at Amtrak. They stop in FLL as well. By the time you include the time spent waiting at the airport, the travel time looks similar.

Amtrak okay especially if you can take the afternoon Silver Meteor vs. the morning Silver Star, as it takes nearly 2 hours less. American Airlines flies to MIA non-stop from MCO.

Keep in mind, too, that these trains originate in the Northeast, so there is ample, ample time for the frequent Amtrak delays to kick in between their origin and the time it reaches Orlando a day later.

 

Not to say it's not an option...but it's not perfect.
