Queen Mary 2 ~ Queens Grills ~ Q1 & Q2 Balconies

Hi guys

Cunard always raves about the Grills Class.

Is the extra fare money for value or is it just a waste for fancy decor in your cabin and restaurant.

Friends of ours who have cruised on QM2 before say that the staff have told them that the food in Grills is exactly the same as in Brittania.

Do the aft Q1 and Q2 suites balconies such as Winsdor and Balmoral have a good sea view or do they mainly overlook the decks below it?

Thanks a lot

There are two current threads that have comments about the percieved value/differences between the Grills & Britannia Club, and Queens Grill vs Princess Grill.

You can peruse them here.

Having alerted you to those, I will just quickly say that the Grills is wonderful and, should you wish to spend that kind of money, you should definitely book it.

Alternatively, you can book Britannia and also have (what most people experience) a wonderful time.

See you in the Grills lounge cruiser101101.

Here is a picture I took of the view from the Q2 Holyrood Suite balcony...

QM2 ...The view from the Q2 "HOLYROOD SUITE" (9082) balcony.

Hope this helps... :) .

In late 2009 we were in a P-1 suite. We met a couple who had the Sundringham suite. We were together on an excursions in Curacao. They invited everyone from the excursion to their suite for an after excusion cocktail party. It was beautiful. You may see pics of it & other suites, but when you actually tour it, well then you get a real perspective. 2 levels, 2 bedrooms complete with full suite bath & jucuzzi tub. Full separate dining area. If you can afford it, it IS the way to go. The large balcony can hold up to 50 people(a bit crowded, perhaps)the view is of the back of the ship, but still pretty nice. The best views are in the Queen Mary/Elizabeth suites or Queen Ann suite up forward under the bridge. As to food, yes the Grills have the same "basic" menu of Britannia, but that's where it ends. There is an extensive Al a Carte menu. You have small one for Britannia Club, a larger one for Princess Grill & a still larger one for Queens Grill, where Caviar is still free(cheaper Hackle back Sturgeon)In the Princess & especially Queens Grill you may venture off menu. You do need to give a day's notice for more unusual items. I think Whitemarsh has a pretty good idea as well. He's also booked the Grills a number of times & knows the perks. We've done them a few times(special occasions)but the Britannia staterooms still offer a great value & bang for the buck,as they say.We did an A-1 in Jan.this year(on the QV). It was a wheelchair room easily as big as our P-1 on the QM2. Our TA booked it, saying you'll love the extra space. You can do this if there's not a need for handicapped pax. Do try the Lido/Kings Court tasting venues at night. The food/ambience are much better than Britannia & easily worth the $10 charge. The ambience is more akin to the Grills. Hope this helps a bit. Now you have just a FEW more choices to make!

The choice of suite can very much be personal choice and personally I do not like the position of the duplex suites on QM2. I much prefer a truly aft suite such as those on Queen Victoria, especially those on decks 6 and 7 that occupy half the width of the ship.
