*** PHOTO Trip Journal aboard Carnival's CONQUEST (Sept. 2012, Caribbean) ***

Recommended Posts

Went on the 2012 NOLA party cruise for NOTHING because of the CruiseMiles(free cruise winner)!!!

And we had a fantastic time aboard while seeing wonderful places (3 ports of call) and meeting great people from all over the World!

Please note that the PHOTO JOURNAL of this fabulous 2012 Party Cruise from New Orleans, LA (USA) is a work in progress...

Consequently, your patience is greatly appreciated while "sailing" along with us on this Western Caribbean adventure

(aboard Carnival's Conquest cruise ship).

1st installment of our TRIP JOURNAL:

Upon arrival in New Orleans, LA (aka NOLA), took the AIRPORT SHUTTLE ($20.00 USD/pp one way or $38.00 USD/pp roundtrip)

to the Cruise Terminal for the Embarkation aboard Carnival's Conquest cruise ship

(7 nights Western Caribbean Cruise or the CruiseMiles 2012 Party Cruise).

The EMBARKATION was a smooth and fairly quick process and got us aboard the cruise ship in no time basically!

(luggage followed few hours later though - in time for late seating dinner anyway!)

Now Carnival is no Celebrity, so do NOT expect a complimentary "Welcome champagne" glass (or Mimosa)

or anyone greeting you at the door!

P1780348-Copy_zps04418e3f.jpg

Head to your stateroom and, if past cruiser with Carnival, a coupon for a "complimentary cocktail" awaits for you!

P1780347-Copy_zpsd006edad.jpg

Checked out the cabin quickly and then immediately headed to the Pool deck to meet the CruiseMiles gang (before the Muster Drill)!

P1780357-Copy_zps1f0caf1a.jpg

They were all enjoying refreshing, colorful drinks - away from the bright sun and the high humidity

(ladies, a nice hat or anti-frizz products are a must for this type of journey/ weather)!

Now to REALLY show the dinning options aboard Carnival's CONQUEST cruise ship, will help with the visuals by using Dave Wilson's outstanding photography:

So here it is Dave Wilson's amazing photography again to showcase the entrance to the Monet Restaurant from the "Sunflower Atrium:"

LODS of activities while at Sea aboard a Carnival's cruise ship!

However, on Monday, for us, the most fun/ entertaining one was, hands down, The LAST MAN STANDING!

It started around 1:30PM CST by the Lido Pool deck.

Lots of guests participated initially, trying to put their GAME face on! However, many of them got eliminated fairly quickly

(note that those challenges, especially at the beginning, were basically team building exercises).

Mid-way, two teams of six (6) were selected and competed against each other facing a gautlet of challenges

(by the pool or inside the swimming pool)!

By the end, three (3) finalists got to dance inside the swimming pool trying to convince the audience to "vote" for them! And the winner was... stay tuned and you will find out!

VIDEO (summarizing the challenges of the "Last Man Standing" competition):

Time to meet the COMPETITORS and see them in ACTION!

P1780562-Copy_zps71054160.jpg

HULA HOOP Challenge

(members of each team tried to manuever a hula hoop around the circle without letting go of each other)

Quickly forming NUMBERS - a new challenge

(members of each team were assigned a number from 1 to 5 and they had to "form a 5 digits number" as fast as possible

when challenged by the Activities Manager, a funny fella from UK)

LAST MAN STANDING (the contest started around 1:30PM CST - Lido Pool deck)

SMALL BALL Challenge (members of each team tried to pass on a small/ tennis ball to each other without using their hands.

If the ball dropped at any point or hands were used, the ball had to be returned to the beginning of the line, so that team had to start all over again)

This was the funniest challenge of the day!

One lady behind us was having so much fun, she said out loud that she had to leave to change because she peed herself laughing!!! (no joke!)

The Scavenger Hunt challenge determined the final two (2) teams, each one having six (6) members.

P1780591-Copy_zps750898a0.jpg

To make the final teams, competitors had to run and bring back specific items according to individual lists

distributed by the Activities Manager, UK's Squishy!

P1780592v-Copy_zps9e7236df.jpg

This game was more about strategy and getting the audience/family/friends involved as time was a key factor too!

LAST MAN STANDING (the competition started around 1:30PM CST - Lido Pool deck)

Probably the BEST part of this activity/ competition was the last individual challenge.

The top three (3) competitors had to DANCE inside the swimming pool!

The music choice was often times unexpected (i.e. Sesame Street or Titanic?!) but

all three (3) finalists proved to be talented, creative and most importantly, entertaining!

LAST MAN STANDING (the competition started around 1:30PM CST - Lido Pool deck)

VIDEO (summarizing the challenges of the "Last Man Standing" competition):

Some final thoughts regarding this entertaining activity that took place aboard Carnival's CONQUEST cruise ship on

Monday (September 24, 2012) - out first Fun Day at Sea:

1). UK's Squishy, the CD Assistant/ Activities Manager proved to be a funny MC during this event. Nicely done, sir!

P1780635-Copy_zps4f6cef43.jpg

2). All of the final competitors proved to be team players and the well deserved winner,

JD, was funny, cordial and down to Earth, appealing to a very diverse audience:

P1780636-Copy_zps0e555cac.jpg

P1780637-Copy_zpsc2d6e3c0.jpg

3). The runner up lady - a joy to watch, especially during her balletic performance inside the pool!

P1780638-Copy_zpsb49eaffc.jpg

4). The winner takes it all (usually)! However, we were trully impressed by JD's generosity and altruism.

We heard from a trustworthy source aboard the ship that the young man gave his bottle of champagne

to one of the ladies (who apparently helped during the "Scavenger hunt" challenge).

Now that's a CLASS ACT and deserves a special note!

P1780640-Copy_zpsca00a6ab.jpg

5). Finally, what a great audience that Monday afternoon: very supportive and fair-play too!

A special recognition to the winner's sister, a young lady that followed her brother all the way, taking pictures, constantly encouraging him...

And who can forget her elated face when JD was announced as the big WINNER of this competition!

Hats off to you, pretty lady!

It seems that contest was the highlight of the cruise (so many photos and videos). Otherwise, for the most part, it seems like a good commercial for Nutrisystem! :D
