Insurance - Who to use

Hello everyone. I will be taking my first cruise in October. I will be purchasing insurance for my trip. I know that not everyone agrees with the purchasing of insurance, but that is a risk that I am not willing to take. I went on www.insuremytrip.com and found some good plans. I just don't know who to use. There seems to be several good companies.

For those who purchase travel insurance, who have you purchased your insurance from and have you had any problems with them? I'm looking at CSA and TravelSafe. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

Stacy

Stacy, I chose TravelSafe for my upcoming cruise. I generally just go to insuremytrip.com and choose the one that fits the best with the lowest price

An insurance company is only as good as their claims department. We've used both TravelGuard and Travel Insured and have had relatively painless claims processing.

TWOSTACYS: Welcome aboard as I see you are both relatively new to the boards. I am not here to spark a debate, but simply point out a few things many people never realize when it comes to coverage, specifically internationally and at seas. First, find out if your current health provider covers expenses, which may be incurred at licensed establishments internationally. Many providers will reimburse you when you return and have filed a claim. Second, if you have a major credit card check to see if they offer these benefits to you through your annual membership. With my visa status/card I am given extended emergency funds 24/7 and 365 days a year no matter my location and after one simple phone call. The coverage is also extended to anyone in my party, loved one, significant other, etc. These include a medic-vac or airlift from the ship if necessary and any major medical bills that may follow. By knowing these two things I manage to save myself hundreds of dollars and am able to put this toward another great cruising vacation. Regardless, enjoy your vacation and safe traveling. icon_smile.gif

I must agree with theparrottheads on this issue. Many times, people will insure their total trip, not realizing they are actually spending money to double insure themselves. Then, get the minimum amount of insurance you think you will need. There is no reason to over-insure and I am reasonably sure that insuremytrip.com will not recommend a bad supplier.

You should take into consideration the time of year you are travelling (weather) and the general health of all who are travelling with you.
