Lynne95 Posted November 27, 2012 #378 Share Posted November 27, 2012 I agree, cute hat! And lovely photos! The water looks so calm! Has it been a smooth cruise so far? We had amazing seas in Sept., and it looks like your cruise has been nice too, at least I hope so:D! PS: What did you think about the Beatlemania group. Were they as good as the one we had on the Jewel?

MNfamilycruiser Posted November 27, 2012 #380 Share Posted November 27, 2012 Now I am interested to see who these gentlemen are that live on a cruise ship for 6 months and wear really neat and sometimes outlandish clothing! :D Guess I will find out firsthand in 84 sleeps!!! They also frequent the Concierge Lounge....in their outlandish outfits. :D

MNfamilycruiser Posted November 27, 2012 #382 Share Posted November 27, 2012 Linda I have a quick question. I am on the dec 2nd cruise on the adventure and American Airlines has changed my return flight time to 11:45am on the ninth. I'm worried that I won't be able to make it to the airport in time. Would you be able to let us know what time they started disembarkation today? We had a late flight - 1:30 on Jet Blue. Our departure was late, around 9:45 - and we were at our gate by 11:20. I am thinking you could easily make 11:45 if you left the ship earlier. We sat around and waited for well over an hour after the earlier departures. BUT....Jet Blue had it's own terminal and check-in and security were VERY quick.

Rare NorbertsNiece Posted November 28, 2012 Author #389 Share Posted November 28, 2012 Good morning I had a lovely dining experience last night. After we boarded from St Thomas, I had lunch and ran into some of the roll call and did some catching up. No Pimm’s o’clock today….. they are out of Pimms! Sigh. I donated to the casino funds; I also won a couple of key rings in the complimentary slot pulls from the coupon book. You win some you lose some….. I would have preferred it the other way around but hey! In the Schooner Bar there’s a Trivia Quiz running. There are only two couples and a solo playing. One of the couples are from the roll call…. They had boarded in Malaga and are the nicest people!! (you know who you are and yes, you are!!). It’s a Where in the World quiz and I sit in for a couple of questions…. I am of no use whatsoever…. The CD entertainment staff member was hysterical in the loveliest way….. he was Spanish and spoke good English but could barely read the questions…. Such fun!! I decide, very last minute, to go Formal. Within 40 minutes I am showered etc and having my photos taken. Chuckle. None of my table companions are there and seating becomes a challenge for the staff….. They want to seat me in a different section to the previous night and I gently decline and say I would prefer to sit in the same section with the same staff. I end up back on the same table and initially alone. I see a couple from the roll call seated near by and head over to say hi. On my return a coupe from Florida are seated next to me. Then a Fire Station Chief, his wife and 17 year old son from Kansas are seated and finally a pair of sisters who live not too far from where I live in London. The meal was such fun! We talked and laughed the whole time. I order the chicken salad starter and it is delicious. I also want to try the chicken consommé…. It is delayed a bit as they have to prepare some without the gluten accompaniment….. I make better…. Just saying. I try the Chops filet mignon @ $14.95. Rare. As the usual sauce has Gluten I am supplied with 2 large pats of Garlic Butter. I am in heaven. I have requested asparagus instead of broccoli & carrots and all is just perfect. Because I was in dinner I missed the Captain’s promenade party again. There is a different show than those they put on last week but I’m intent on getting a long sleep in and head to my room. St Kitts and Nevis tomorrow.

Rare NorbertsNiece Posted November 28, 2012 Author #392 Share Posted November 28, 2012 Currently showered after such an amazing day. As I am debarking they close the pier off to enable P&O Adonia to pull in and dock. You will see from the pics that she is much smaller than us. The terminal in St Kitts is devoted to the organised tours. Just outside there are the independent tours calling for custom. There are also men with very small monkeys touting for photographs….. I remember them from last year and avoid. I meet Tour Guide Beulah (she is awaiting her group to arrive) who lives in England for 6 months of the year and with her mother on St Kitts for the other 6 months. We bond and I am sad that I have not contacted her for a tour to Nevis as she has 3 different Nevis tours at varying prices including lunch and more reasonable than RCCL. She introduces me to the Governor General. I kid you not. He has pulled up in his official branded limo and parks by the terminal. He does this daily sitting in the back and observing. I have a conversation with him: ‘Did you manage to come over for the Olympics?’ ‘No’ ‘How about for the Jubilee?’ ‘No I couldn’t’. Not being sure how you address a Governor General I am ultra polite and slip in the occasional ‘Sir’. Bearing in mind this is English in all but name I found that very surprising…. The schools use the UK curriculum, they drive RHD cars on the left hand side of the road. Last time I was here I saw a red phone box. Oh well. Back inside the terminal (and to get back in I have to show photo ID) I am told that we are being picked up half an hour later than planned. Realising I have left my water bottle on board I jump on a shuttle and head back up the pier as it is now open again….. when I get back (in good time) they others have disappeared! I find the guide and she leads me to a van. We are 9 passengers in total. This excursion is poorly advertised and really this deserves much better advertising….. there is nothing on the TV about it at all for example and the excursion sheet mentions very little about what is seen let alone that there is a beach stop. The ferry terminal is less than 5 minute drive away. I sit up top for the ferry ride which lasts around 50 minutes. As we step on to the dock we are handed a bottle of water. Oh well. We are met at the dock by our driver, Courtly Maynard who is extremely charming and a wonderful guide. I ask whether we will be stopping in Charlestown for a look around but the tour doesn’t allow for it. I ask if it would be possible to drive by the Jewish Cemetery in town and he is very obliging and drives by there slowly. There has been no burial for over 300 years yet the grass is mown and the graves have been visited. More about that later. We get a well described tour of the town and then head off into the countryside which is lush and cared for. During the day we see egrets, pelicans (otherwise known as boobies), mongoose, sheep (who grow no wool and are used for food), goats and monkeys. We visit 2 extraordinary hotels; the Montpelier and the Golden Rock (1000 feet above sea level) as much for their heritage at being sugar plantations as for their connection with Admiral Lord Nelson. The views were just spectacular. The Montpelier estate, famous for a visit by Princess Diana, is incredibly beautiful. I don’t know that my pictures will do it justice. We lunch at ‘Lime’ bar which is near a beach. I have Grouper fish (other choice is chicken) which is palatable. As I don’t want beach and they are to be there for over an hour I ask the barman to call a taxi for me and I go back to the cemetery. It is Courtly again which is lovely as I have sat next to him for the tour and we get on well. He is more than happy to wait whilst I go in and view the graves. I say a prayer and attempt to read what inscriptions are still visible. Courtly doesn’t want to charge me for the ride but I won’t have that. Courtly tells me that a man Called Abraham used to tend the graveyard but he doesn’t know who is doing it now. We’re back at the bar in plenty of time and I get a large Baileys. I have been incredibly moved by the visit to the cemetery. As the others are still at the beach I sit with Courtly and hear about his 30 years as a taxi driver and life on the wonderful island of Nevis. Not long after we are back in the van for a short ride then walk through the Four Seasons Hotel. The boat that is to take us back cannot pick us up at the beach so we use the pier at the hotel for a speedboat ride back. 30 minutes. Would have been quicker but we had to stop to retrieve a baseball cap for one of the passengers! I head for the Pool Bar to meet up with my friends and we catch up. Ginnie (Gxchan from CC) buys me a Mudslide…. Cristian has substituted ice cubes for vodka and loads of chocolate. I am happy. Erica and I then join in the line dancing in preparation for 70s night tonight. I have been told that Paul has it on video. Oh dear. It’s gone 5pm and we are still in town….. All aboard was 430…. I know they have been refuelling. Engines have started up so won’t be long. Tomorrow is a sea day. Ah just heard one of my favourite sounds…. The ship’s horn!! We’re off! :D Later (after dinner posting) very heavy partying going on in the Conference Centre. I am sat outside and kids think I am staff...... sigh.... dwp10mm Posted November 28, 2012 #399 Share Posted November 28, 2012 I took a stroll around Deck this morning Thank you for these pictures. I'm booked for Spring Break next year and was hoping to see pictures of the kids waterpark area. My boys are used to Freedom and I was hoping Adventure had enough of a water area to keep them happy. These pictures make me think they will still love it. Is it just slides back in the Adventure Beach area? Do you know by chance if they have to be in the kids club to use this area? My boys hate the kids club and spend the entire trip with us. I have no problem sitting back there and letting them enjoy the area. I'm really just trying to find out as much about this area of the ship as possible. Everything else is pretty well documented elsewhere. But finding out about this play area has been a challenge. Thank You.
