Merijohn Posted November 27, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 27, 2012 Has anyone cruised in the Whitsundays on the Radiance of the Seas or any other large ship? I wish to know how much of the islands and beaches can you actually see from the ship. We are not beach people so I don't want to lie on the sand especially by I do want to see the beauty of the area. Should we do a day excursion at Airlie Beach? Thanks Merrijohn:)
Rare Keith1010 Posted November 28, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 28, 2012 You may have done this already but if not be sure to post this on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line Board. Keith
jota Posted November 28, 2012 #3 Share Posted November 28, 2012 I have been there on the Diamond Princess, I would tender in and wander around Airlie Beach without doing an excursion, wander thought he markets they will probably set up, have lunch at a nice spot with a view, and a swim in the lagoon/pool on the waterfront. We did the camel ride which went nowhere and was more embarrassing than anything , but later went to the pub and the lagoon. princess actually refunded some of the cost of the camel ride, apparently someone had complained and we all got some money back on our on board account. itsadoozy Posted November 28, 2012 #4 Share Posted November 28, 2012 We were there on Radiance early this year - there isn't çlose-up'views of the islands, but nice scenery anyway when arriving and leaving. We went on the inter-island ferry just for the ride and scenery. Very nice, relaxing, and cheap.
Krazy Kruizers Posted November 28, 2012 #5 Share Posted November 28, 2012 I agree about the ferry. We did it and enjoyed it.

lownslow Posted November 30, 2012 #10 Share Posted November 30, 2012 Hi I'm a local to the Whitsundays :) Feel free to ask any questions and I'll. try to answer the best I can. The closest island from Abel point marina is Daydream - about 20mins or so. Small and easy to walk around. Nice pools etc.
