Cruise ship back to Mobile - Rumor

I would love it if Mobile had a ship again! I would book another one in a heartbeat! im 4 hours from the port.

From my driveway to the terminal is 20 minutes! The best part of being that close to a cruise ship is being able to be home so quickly when we get off the ship. We have even gone from the ship straight to work a few times when they were in Mobile.:)

A while back people posted that they got a e-mail from Carnival asking if they would cruise from Mobile. Most were from down south. I live here in Al and didn't get one. From what I undestand RCCL and NCL are sailing more ships from NO.They may be having a hard time filling the ship.On the 26th of Nov. they had a P&G on the Elation,5 night cruise for 149.Mobile has a nice new cruise port that they are paying for and may have offered a good deal.I cruise from N.O. 1 or 2 times a yr and the cost fo rooms and parking keep going up. I can see it happening and I would sail from there

I remember the survey you are talking about. I didn't receive one, but found the link and completed it. We have had rumors of CCL or another cruise line coming back to Mobile for months now. We really do need to get one back here to get our cruise terminal up and running again. Most everyone here feels that the ship was pulled due to political conflicts between the city and CCL and, hopefully, the politicians here will be on their "best behavior" if we are given a second chance. From first hand experience I know that the hotel rooms are more affordable here than in NOLA.

This would be a boost to our economy for sure.

I got the survey and voted yes....

not my favorite port, but once we got it figured out....we were happy to sail from there and would be happy to again.

One thing I do prefer Mobile over New Orleans is the fact that you are not sharing the terminal and parking etc with 2 other cruise lines 6 months out of the year and the hotel cost is a lot less....

Wish I'd gotten the survey - we have cruised out of Mobile-LOVED IT!

It is a very clean and well kept port. We would do it again in a heartbeat.

That being said-we will NEVER cruise out of Jax again.

We live about 6 hours from each of them, so it's a toss up as far as convenience.

I can see why people would perfer N.O. if you never been before. But once you get older or have been there a few times I go with the cheaper. After katrina rooms were cheap but now. Them days are gone. I bet you are correct about politcal conflicts.

We received the survey and voted for Mobile as well.

Mobile is one of the ports which allows us to drive comfortably on the morning of departure (the other two being JAX and CHS). But Mobile would allow us to do a Western Caribbean cruise without having to add extra days to our vacation.

The Holiday was our first ship too, when it was still in NOLA and we sailed her several times from there and Mobile. She was a small gem and always had wonderful staffing. As someone said, she was an aging Southern Belle, Bless her heart! :p

As for waiting until 2014 for a new ship, Carnival and other lines, move ships around all the time. I believe that CCL has more than one ship in several ports and could move a ship from another port. I doubt Mobile would ever get a "new" ship anyway becauses they are too large for this port.

I have always found the terminal staff in Mobile to be very nice and friendly and have sailed from Mobile several times.

I would love to see the Fantasy back in Mobile. I have only cruised on her once when she was still in Mobile. They would have to put a fantasy class in Mobile, the terminal couldn't handle a larger ship. If Carnival does put a ship in Mobile we would sail at least once or twice a year out of the port.
