Avoid the Inspiration at all cost!!!
Celebrity is the only exception I have been on and of course you pay a bit extra with them.

Princess was my favorite until they went on a cost cutting bliz trying to avoid a hostil Carnival take over several years ago. Since Carnival got them, the service and quality has gone down noticably.
I would like to know what the heck is Celebrity and Princess doing to their Passengers, is it subliminal? are they putting something in the soup? I kinda figured by the all negative review that this guy sailed Princess or one of the X ships. I seen many, even if it was on the newest Carnival ship the review would of been the same.

To the OP: I am sorry that you did not have a great time. As much as I hate to say this, you do leave the impression that you were disappointed with this ship before you boarded. But most here can agree the sewer and air conditioning problems were bothersome. I have experinced both on RCI and CCL. This is a possible problem that could affect any ship on any cruise line. But I am glad to hear you did address these problems onboard and to your TA instead of just venting here.

Please do not take what I am going to say the wrong way, but I do not like to be told to avoid a certain ship at all costs. Just because you may have had a bad experience does not mean it will happen to all future cruisers. Yes, sometimes older ships have outdated decor and minor problems. But they allow people who cannot afford newer ships, those who don't have the time to sail on longer cruises, or those who just want to try out a cruise for the first time without forking over big money to do so. Even though I can understand your frustrations about your vacation, your title was a little harsh. And in this neck of the woods, this type of thread brings out the sunshine in some;)

I hope your next cruise is much better!:)
The ship advertises 24 hour dinning on the marketing... The capers do provide times, but they do not stick to them or what happens is they close the inside buffets and leave you out in the heat to get food. Closing a buffet down at 10am in a vacation venue kind of stinks... When on vacation, I do not expect to have to conform to a limited sched. The other lines do not do this. Not that the Lido buffet food was all that great anyhow but after a late night, I do not think we shoul have to be up and out by ten to get hot food. The whole idea of a cruise is to not have a fixed regiment and relax...
They close for cleaning and open again at 11:30. I do like Princess beter for this. I have been on the Inspiration twice and loved her.

Opps . . . big mistake! One never posts anything negative about a Carnival Cruise (or Carnival ship) on the Carnival Cruise Board. Post it on the General Cruise Board. On here . . . Carnival can do no wrong . . . no matter what. I went on my first Carnival cruise last month and had a ball . . . the Triumph was fantastic (so much so that I've booked another cruise). But, having been on the Carnival Boards for over a year . . . one thing I've learned . . . one never says anything negative or you'll get flamed. :(

Please go away and don't come back. You expected to have a bad cruise and you had one.

I don't care for your type on my ship anyway.
Oh come on . . . that wasn't very nice. This person didn't like a lot of things about his/her cruise. Play nice and show those that didn't have a good time on a Carnival curise just how nice some of us that cruise on Carnival are. I've always felt that it's the people you meet on a cruise are so much more special than anything one experiences on a ship. I mean, on my last cruise, out ship nearly tipped over (April 30th Triumph's cruise out of Miami). Bad cruise . . . bad ship? No way . . . if anything . . . it gave all of us something to tell all our family and friends about. Not everyone loves Carnival as we do . . . . but please don't tell them to just go away because they had a bad experience on one Carnival ship.

People get flamed, on most any of the CC boards, when they make comments that obviously are exaggerated. Exaggerations proved by those that have posted that they were either on the OP's cruise, or on another recent Inspiration cruise, and didn't have the degree of problems the OP supposedly experienced.
No one expects every cruise to be perfect. But we do like a little fact along with the fiction.

I have to agree with ladycaveat. Any negative coments on this board have gotten me flamed. Consistently. On other boards, it is simply accepted as a negative comment and one does not get rude comments.

It is a shame because posters ask questions about Carnival vs another line wanting different points of view. On this board, IME, points of view other that Carnival is the best thing going are simply not tolerated.

Carnival is not for everyone and that can be said about any line.

I think it's more negative statements not supported by facts.

Come on her, and say "This line sux", and go rambling often gets flames. Come on and post the facts, letting the readers draw their own conclusions, seems to fly under the radar, and sometimes sympathy.

But not ALWAYS. There's always the pot stirrers lurking....

I know this is your first cruise. Please don't let this review get you down!! I have been on the Sensation, sister ship to the Inspiration. My husband and I had the most wonderful time!!! I have also been on the Victory and had a blast!! I could have a blast on a life boat, I think it is what you make of it. If you go with the attitude that nothing even rain would ruin your cruise then it won't. I promise!! see you at 8pm at the casino bar. Bon Voyage!! I'm leaving for Tampa today!!!! WOO HOO!!!!

Was just wondering if this group changed the tips. They claim the crew did everything they could to make things right just wondering if that being the case then the tips should have been left and not readjusted which somehow I feel they were and all the complaints is there justification for reducing tips.Just my opinion. We can not wait till our next Wal Mart cruise. and we love it.

That's not exactly true.

Both Caviargirl and Girlsnightout have posted FAIR reviews. Neither likes Carnival at all, but their reviews were well accepted because of the way they were presented. To be honest, in both cases I was surprised because both of those women are certainly NOT fans of Carnival. No one jumped on them for their reviews after their cruises. If I recall correctly, they were thanked for their honesty.
It's never what you say, it's always how you say it.

Sure hope things changes by Dec. 4. Thats when we are going on the Inspiration. We are taking my son Daughter in law and thier oldest son. We went on this ship 3 years ago. Didnt care for the odd worm looking things in the lunch room, but I am sure my 9 year old grandson will think it is cool. Just not something you see every day. Have been on 6 crusies and have enjoyed each one. I do think they should re do the inside of the ship and update it, but then again you can take 20 people and all 20 people would have you furnish it differently.. Sure hope they fix every thing elce!!!!! Will take our own air freshner!! Thanks you your up date on the ship Panda

I can agree that I have read certain posts and sometimes there is flamming that is not needed, but if you look through all the post everyone has an individual opinion, not everyone flammes the poster and not everyone defends Carnival.

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. We were on the Inspiration just a few months ago and had a wonderful time! No complaints, sometimes things happen that are really uncontrolable, cant please everyone all the time.

to Alaska. We have been on oldest and smallest Carnival ship to the Conquest (when it was brand new). We have never had any of the problems to the degree the original complainer described. Yes, there have been times when the A/C did not cooperate perfectly for one day or a whiff of sewer odor from a back stairwell as we walked down it.

We have always been perfectly satisfied. And yes, we do have higher than "redneck" expectations. We vacation at The Cloister in Sea Island, Ga. (location of President Bush Sr. honeymoon and 50th wedding anniversary party)

Whenever I have written a review, they have been honest and balanced. Things do go wrong. That's life. How you handle them separates the "rednecks" from the snobs. IHMO, this poster's attitude was more of a problem than Carnival's ship. I, too, believe that this poster was disappointed from the day he learned his "cheap" company only sprung for a "Carnival cruise". And expressed his disappointment to all around him, even before the ship left the dock. Something tells me his fellow cruisers in his group were probably more tired of hearing him complain than disappointed with the Carnival ship.

No, it is not Celebrity. But not even Celebrity can please someone who does not want to be there.

Cruising is not what it used to be. But then, neither is our society.

As for Walmart, I don't buy everything there. But I do buy the quality items I require at the best price. Just like Carnival, I don't spend all my vacation time there....but I get good quality at the best price. That isn't being a redneck, that is being financially smart.

Is Carnival the only cruise line I will ever travel? No. But I will certainly continue to travel with them, just as we have done for over 20 years.

Carnival is not for everyone. But then neither is any other cruise line.

How often on your cruise did you notice parents buying their children drinks? This too I have never seen.

Last year on the Elation - first week of September - every day
Destiny - 2nd week of December - every day

On my 16th birthday i went on the Fantasy and bought drinks for myself. Carnival is very lax on the drinking.. better get off this subject b/c they might think your blind

Anyhow, I do not know if this is representative of the newer portions of the Carnival fleet. I know that most of the ships like Inspiration and Fantasy are old cans that need refit badly but the line needs to draw a line someplace if they value reputation in any way.

The best suggestion I can make to them is to make the ships senior staff live with a sliding pay scale tied to the tipping levels and customer feedback cards rather than only holding stewards and waiters accountable. That might get some of these people off of there butts...

For now, I humbly suggest people avoid the older Carnival ships unless you plan to be so trashed for the entire ride that food and smells are not a problem...
I'm sorry you had such a bad time, but to say that most of the older ships are old cans, etc etc is a very broad generalization.

My family and I absolutely adore the Fantasy. We've sailed on her twice and will be again in December. We like the 'smaller' ships that carry around 2000 passengers. I truly do not know if I would like a huge ship with 3700 passengers. Maybe I would, maybe I wouldnt but the Fantasy is clean and nice and we really enjoy sailing on her.

In fact, for our next cruise in April 06 we are planning on sailing on the Inspiration. Since we already know the layout we already know we will love the ship.

(And by the way- there is no 6e on the Fantasy class ships)
