missed the ship

Recommended Posts

Harv & Marv get excellent reviews on here - just curious if anyone has taken their tour and missed the ship sailing due to not doing a Princess Whale watch tour?

H&M make a very good living off of cruise ship excursions. If they miss the ship once, the word gets out and they are out of business. Do not worry!

Economics is on your side in this case. Cruise ship excursions is a big part of the Alaskan coast cities income. A tourist missing a ship because of this excursion is a big blow for them..so....you will make it on time..no worries..

Has never happened to H&M - read their website. If it WERE to happen, they take care of getting you to the next port, including putting you up in hotels and flying you there.

As others have said, the independent vendors in AK know that the cruiselines are their bread and butter with such short tourist seasons. You will NOT have a problem.

I've used Harv and Marv twice and recommend them to everyone. Class act.

I was told by a vendor in Ketchikan (and I am quite sure it is the same in other ports) that the various vendors look out for each other. If someone's boat did have a problem, they would contact one of the other local vendors who would pitch in and help them get their passengers back to shore.

I think that all of the operators - esp watercraft - will look out for each other - even the ones who contract with the cruise lines.

Most all of them will get you back to the ship on time - or they will pay for it - in more ways than one.

There is also no guarentee that the cruise ship will wait more than 1/2 hr even for one of their own tours due to extra port charges etc.

This is probably a good place to say that everytime you go off the ship you should carry your phone and the number for the dock agent - you can use that number to get a message to the captain as to your whereabouts.

You will have a blast with Harv and Marv, sit back and no worries they will get you back on time, they even stop and let you wander at Mendenhall for a few minutes if you chose!

Also, loved Harv and Marv. Great experience with nice normal people who care. We went whale watching with them about 3 years ago.

You better believe that they will all look out for each other and make certain that you get back to the ship on time.

Several years ago we were on a larger boat in Icy Straight Point. A tiny boat broke down. We took on the 4 passengers and helped tow their boat back.
