Elation is fine.

Of the four Fantasy class ships I have been on Elation is the prettiest.

The blue peacock motif stained glass in the buffet dining room is especially pretty at night.

The only drawback for me is that there is a lack of deck chairs in the shade.

We have a cruise booked for April on Elation and it will be the fourth time I have sailed on her.

At this time we have to sail from New Orleans or not at all.

And five day cruises work out much better for us than seven day, so it is kind of Elation or nothing.

But if you are longing for all the bells and whistles, then you may not be satisfied with Elation.

Still, when it comes down to Elation or nothing, then Elation starts looking really good.:)

If using the pool is something that is important to you then it is unfortunate that Elation's pool is not as nice as the pools on the larger ships.

Truthfully, you would have to pay me to get me in there, but I am a bit squeamish about pools in general...who knows what is in the water, you know?

As for favorite ships, so far Triumph is my favorite.

Just big enough, but not too big, five days and plenty of deck chairs in the shade.:)

Carnival Powers That Be please send Triumph back to New Orleans!

We've sailed on the Elation twice, and she is one of the prettiest ships in the fleet in my opinion!

She does not have all the bells and whistles, but for the right price I would definitely book her again!

The best cabin steward we ever had was on the Elation, as was one of the best waiters. The Elation has some really great shows, although I do think some of them have changed since I was on board.

If you are able, book midship. Aft is a little noisy due to engine vibrations - and not everyone is able to handle the forward motion. :)

We did Elation right after Thanksgiving in 2011. As stated before, it is not as glamorous as the Valor or Glory we went on, but it was fine. One interesting thing is you will cruise about 6 hours down the Mississippi. It was dark leaving port in November. I am taking my dad on the Elation in May and it will be cool to see the scenery pass by. Nice ship!

We are sailing April 20th on the Elation. Are you from Mobile, Alabama? Asking because New Orleans is our only option too since they moved Elation from Mobile.

My sister and I sailed Elation in November (4 day) and it was a wonderful ship! IN my research beforehand, much of the concensus was even though it was older & smaller, it was still a beaut and the crew was excellent. And I agree!

I have nothing to compare it to, but it was a good size in that you could move around easily from place to place and yet not feel crowded.

We stayed in V30 (an obstructed view suite) - forward and high and I felt sick a lot of the time. The cabin is a bit dated, but everything is in working order and clean. The balcony was really great to have - breakfast really does taste better out there in your jammies!

Any Time Dining was a good option for us and we had the same waiter each night and sat in the same area. No waiting and we went down around 6-6:30 each night. Food was excellent too! Many crew members made us feel pampered and very welcome - Mehmet in MDR, Orlando, Anna-Maria and our cabin steward Rinalo. Many more I can't recall... all helpful, kind & hardworking.

The entertainment was good and you could be as busy or as unbusy as you wanted. Only line for food really was the Grill on Lido, so with so many other options, I never did eat there except for the Mexican buffet on Saturday night. Plenty of tables, deck chairs & room in the hot tubs. Also, no music on the Serenity deck on our sailing, as someone else mentioned.

We were fortunate to have VIP embarkation with the suite, so it was a breeze! But I think it would be easy-peezy for anyone.

IN port at Cozumel, we did Mr. Sancho's through Cozumel Watersports and loved it there too! All inclusive for $45. Good service, nice beach.

The seasickness is the only "problem" I had (and I could have medicated even more, but then would have been sleeeeeping the whole time), it was a fantastic time and I think anyone would enjoy this ship.

I can post some pics if you'd like.

Enjoy whatever cruise you decide.

Somewhere on cc is a post which is kind of a tour and description of the various things you can see as the ship sails down The River.

I think it is on the New Orleans board.

It is worth searching and printing if you are interested in what you are seeing.:)

We are from Memphis and really enjoyed sailing out of Mobile.

Mobile is an easy drive.

We could leave very early and be on the ship for a late lunch.

We could work the day before the cruise, drive down and get on the ship and be back at work the day after debarkation.

It seemed like we had been in a time warp to be able to do a five day cruise and only be away from home on four days.

New Orleans is just a bit further, but it seems a lot longer.

I am afraid to try to drive to New Orleans on the same day as the cruise.

We are hoping that someone puts a ship in Mobile so we can start sailing from Mobile again.

When Carnival left Mobile they sent us a letter suggesting that we can still drive to New Orleans and Galveston.

Galveston is a tough drive and we just don't have enough vacation time to use four days driving.

I would love for you to post some pics if it isn't any trouble. (: I've looked at the few reviews that are out there and googled some but I know there are more spots on the ship than the atrium. Haha.

Also, for anyone that has sailed on the Elation, I know they don't have waterworks but Carnival's deck plans make it look like there is an extra pool where that would be. Is this correct? I've sailed on Fascination and Fantasy and both had waterworks and then one pool. I'm excited to be on another Fantasy class ship that's a little bit different than my previous two.

I will try and post some more later on. Looking back through them, we don't have that many inside shots, but I'll post what I have & my sister's too. I posted some in the Gallery too, if you want to search for them.

Thanks for your patience. I worked nights last night and need a bit of sleep.

Ok - looks like it's not that hard using them from Facebook so I'll post what I have. Hope they help! :)
