Just did Marriott day pass -

We will be booking a day pass for our Dec cruise as well. I'm looking on the Marriotts website about their Spa. Apparently, they have "Beachside Cabana Massage" and "Garden Cabana Massage" available. We'd like to schedule a massage while there but DH is wondering about privacy in the "Beachside Cabana" Anybody utilize this or remember seeing these Cabanas? Better yet, any pics :)

GARDEN CABANA MASSAGE 50 minutes $129

Massage is enhanced by the sound of the water fountains and the scents of the garden in an exclusive outdoor

cabana, a zen-like experience. Available also for couples massages - 50 minutes $259. This massage is weather

permitting.

BEACHSIDE CABANA MASSAGE 50 minutes $129

Listen to the sound of the ocean while you relax and unwind in our beachside cabana. Let Mother Nature’s

cool breeze whisk away stress and tension and guide your mind to a place of tranquility. This massage is

weather permitting.

Found this from another cruisecritic post:

This is the information I received via Marriott:

Thank you for contacting Marriott. We appreciate the opportunity to provide you with information.

The hotel offers day passes and the cost is approximately $35.00 per person (inclusive of tax and service charge). STUPID QUESTION- DOES THIS MEAN THAT THE TIPS IS ALREADY INCLUDED? The pass includes the following:

-Complimentary use of the facilities including the three pools and the beach

-Complimentary use of palapas on the beach and lounge chairs on the beach and pools I DON'T SEE ANY PALAPAS ON THE MARRIOTTS WEBISTE PICS? IT JUST SHOWS ROWS OF LOUNGERS SET UP.

-Towel card for complimentary use of towel while on property

-Coupon for 1 complimentary Carib beer (redeemable at Bohemia Restaurant)

-15% discount at the Emerald Mist Spa (treatments and appointments subject to availability) THIS WOULD MAKE IT EVEN MORE AFFORDABLE TO HAVE A BEACHSIDE MASSAGE!!

-10% discount in Bohemia

You may wish to contact an associate at the hotel for further details. The contact information for this location is included below:

Thanks for this detailed info. We are considering doing the beach day pass with friends on our Emerald Princess cruise in Nov.

-->Are there changing rooms or restrooms we can change our clothes in? Showers available included in the cost...possibly in the gym/work-out area or just out open near the pool?

There were bathrooms by the pool area where you could change - no showers there- and we didn't go to the gym area.

-->Can you give us an idea how much food/cocktails were: Burger, Margarita cost...if you remember?

Burgers etc were prob in the $12 range -drinks were typical caribbean pricing - approx $8-12 for mixed drinks and less for beer- Keep in mind - THEY DO NOT take cash , you give a cr card for a tab -right there at the swim up bar.

:confused:Did the beach area have umbrellas/thatched palapa over the loungers? You mentioned "shaded huts" on the beach....are they included in the day pass price or extra? I see they have umbrellas over the loungers near the pool, but wondered what type of shade was on the beach.

The pool area had lounge chairs with umbrella's. On the beach there are several shaded huts which you could use. It was a bit rough the day we went, no one on the beach -so we all stayed at the pool area and had a fantastic day. Played volleyball, drank and relaxed.

Hope that answers your questions

Sandy - I was looking at pics of the beach and saw the breakers you mentioned. Did it look like you could snorkel there? Trying to figure out what we want to do in November and DH loves to snorkel. thanks!

Or if not from the beach - do you know if they offered any snorkeling via boat from their beach?

Honestly, we didn't walk all the way down to the edge of the beach - The breakers are very close to the beginning, and that was breaking the waves, but it was still rough... So, unfortunately, I can't help you there - There was actually no one out on the beach the day we were there -

Did not see any boat options either from the Marriott.

thats what we did -just grabbed a mini bus- (there were several of us- think they charged us $3 ? pp each way)-

and went to desk and bought day passes.

Didn't feel the need for a room as we spent most of the day there, then just headed back to the ship to shower- and any shopping was done in the port on way back- so no one cared if we were in cover ups...

Sounds like a good day out,a bit concerned about having to hand credit card over at the bar for drinks though.

was no problem at all. its a swim up bar -and the bartender had all the credit cards right there on her counter with our receipts and we could see them... We had no problem. They don't take cash - so you really don't have much choice..

Thank you Sandy for this information! I'll be there next week and I'm not sure what to do. It's my daughter's 17th birthday, and she really wants to go horseback riding on the beach but I can't seem to find anywhere that would offer that.

I came across your post and thought it's a great place to have on the back burner in case the ocean is rough that day. One question...have you or anyone else reading this been to the Marriott's beach on a day when the ocean isn't rough, and is it typically a nice beach?

Thanks again!

Melanie

Sandy....thanks for all the good information.

How would you compare the beaches at the Marriott with other Caribbean island beaches.

Is the water crystal clear?

Were there many shells by the shoreline?

I happen to like waves...hoping there are some when I go there in January. :)

Thanks.

Don
